Hi: Is anyone age 35 plus a student besides me? My classmates are all the age of my children. I am 45.
I have said that same thing myself- I'll be 2 years older anyway, whether I go to school or not! I'll be 36 in Dec, graduating the following Dec as an RN- yay!!! I was going to school at night for 1st semester and was average in the age dept, 2nd semester started during the day and became one of the oldest!! That's ok with me though... I love school and have met some great people, and what I'm showing my 3 kids!!! That you're never to old to keep learning and setting and achieving goals. I love this thread because sometimes when I hear the negativity about nursing, I get a little worried- can I do it, am I too old for the craziness, etc.... but I'm not alone in being an older student! I think that as older and returning students, we don't let excuses keep us from doing what needs to be done. We want it too much!
45 and the oldest in my class! I will be 47 when I'm finished with the ADN course. I agree with one of the previous posts: I'm going to be 47 anyway, no matter what I'm doing in the meantime. Might as well be making some progress!I love everyone in my class, they are all great. I do have to stifle the urge to "mother" the younger ones, though --- I'm sure they don't want any motherly advice!

Glad I ran across this thread. It's a great encouragement!
I'm 33 and I thought I was going to be "the old fogey" in classes. :) This makes me feel a little better about starting back for a second degree in about a month. I'll be taking pre reqs for a BSN, hopefully admitted fall 05 to a 3yr program for BSN. Great to see our "life experience" counts for something around here.

i am only starting my pre-reqs and i am thirty five, married w/ 2 kids , hubby and a full time job. i am always thinking if i should just leave things the way they are now, but then i say to myself... "how old will i be in 3 years if i dont go to school? and what will i be doing"? i am not a consistence lotto player so there goes those chances !!! lol
I am starting this Fall in a BSN prgram after 2 years of part-time evenings at a community college getting all of pre and co requisites completed. I love school and think I would never have done as well or been as focused had I done this 15 years ago. I am a single mom of the most amazing ten year son and he gaining a greater respect for hard work and the importance of education. I will be 39 going on 40 when I graduate and I am loving every minute of it!!
