I dont mind. Im usually 11-7 nights, so I get a good part of the day to do what I want. Only holiday of course, that falls here is New Years Eve, but I dont mind working NYE....my family does though and my parents get upset when Im not there to celebrate with them. So, I mostly dont mind. But others do. :p

I like working Xmas and Thanksgiving since I don't like those holidays. I'd rather have the "party" holidays off though, like New Years and the 4th of July. In general though, the only holiday I really like to celebrate is my bday=P. So yeah, I like working holidays.

They only holiday I want off is Thanksgiving. I will work the rest of them. The kids are grown and do their own deals at Christmas, I don't drink or party so new years Eve is fine to work and so is NY Day. ad we get Visa cards to work them

When I worked in the hospital, I never minded working holidays. I usually preferred it. I worked 12 hr days on Thanksgiving every year and some part of Christmas (Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Eve night, Christmas Day)... Spending 1 out of the 3 with my family was good enough for me. I also worked Easter every year (not considered a holiday as far as the hospital was concerned). I have not had Easter or Thanksgiving with my family in over 5 years and it was my preference most of the time. When I resigned my position earlier this year, I stayed on to work Easter as I had agreed to cover for a colleague and I didn't want them to turn around and put her back on that day when I gave my notice.

Now, my current job does not involve working holidays. I had barbeques at my house on The 4th of July and Labor Day and I am definitely getting used to the not working on holidays thing. I make a lot more money now, too, so I don't feel like I need the extra money that picking up a holiday shift would give me.

I LOVE working the Holidays. I always have. My family would just work around it, celebrating on the next set of days off.

Now as a nurse, it is the first time in a decade that I will actually be able to enjoy a holiday here and there on the actual day, as we have a lottery-type scheduling for the Holidays. Where I work, it is required that you only work two winter and two summer holidays.

I'm salaried now, so generally don't work holidays. Came in for a few hours on Labor Day, and was wishing for some time and a half... sadly didn't happen.

In the past, I've enjoyed working holidays, and kinda miss them now. My family has always been flexible to move major get togethers to my weekend off, and I always felt that residents/patients appreciate the staff even more when working on a major holiday.

I never have minded working holidays. I actually liked working Christmas at my old job because our Jewish cardiologist would bring in INCREDIBLE food for us - and just spend time chatting and visiting.

I don't mind. I have no kids, so I'll gladly work the shifts nobody else wants.

I quite often volunteer to work the day shift on Christmas Day.I like giving the staff with smaller children the opportunity to be at home. My kids are older and they usually spend Christmas eve and Christmas morning at their Dad's house. My large family ( about 28 or so at dinner) eats around 6pm on Christmas Day and that's the one thing the girls and I don't want to miss.I actually enjoy being at work Christmas Day. We share a camaraderie between us and the patients to be together on such a special morning. Everyone brings goodies and the hospital feeds the staff working that day. The families are always so grateful for the staff working the holiday.

it depends if i want extra cash or extra time off , thats the joys of nursing soooo many options

I like giving people with kids the day off to be with their families. So yes, I like working holidays.

Except new years and the 4th. Those are mine.
