Anybody here hoping to get accepted to DeKalb Technical College Fall 2010?

Published

Just wondering if anyone here is trying for a spot at Dekalb Tech this fall?

We are supposed to hear whether or not we are accepted by May 28th....so nervous!

Anyone applied for Fall

What was the background check for? Do you know of anyone that may have had traffice offenses on their background.

Have you gotten into a program as if yet? Are you still applying?

Anyone applied for Fall

My understanding nursehopefull2011 is that the fall class for DTC has already been selected. As far as the background check is concerned I think a minor traffic violation would not be a problem but it would depend on how extensive the violation/charge was. I would get it cleared up before applying to the program so that you want run into any problems. I applied to DTC last year and was not selected but got accepted into another school. The selection process is pretty involved (Pre-reqs, GPA and TEAS Score) and from what I hear the next selection will not be until next year.

Hi,

I'm glad you were accepted at another school! Where did you decide to go? (Hope I'm not being too personal). Wish you the best! I hear DT's program is hard and you can get "kicked out" for the slightest reason. I'm not one to believe things

"sight unseen", but this is very important to me. Hope to hear back from you soon!

They will give you time to practice. In class and after in open labs.

Hi,

Where are the clinical sites. Also, were you able to appeal their decision about your status in the program?

I am in the RN nursing program at Bauder College :nurse:. I think all of the programs are "hard" but feel there are large differences in the support system that you get from your teachers in each program which is very important to me. My experience at DT was not what I expected and am glad to be in a program that better suits my needs. Hopefully, with the change over from quaters to semesters at DT it has given them an opportunity to evaluate the program and process for applying. I wish you all the best in the program.

Congrats to u also :)..im so excited and this is just the beginning...but here's my email address [email protected] ....and i look forward to meeting you too.

I too was accepted into the 2011 LPN program at Dekalb Tech, however, my excitement was shortlived when I found out that you cannot have ANY type of criminal record. I was arrested for traffic related issued(suspended license) however it was thrown out. THerefore I have no convictions of misdemeanor or felonies, but have to get out of the program. I wasn't told this, however, I read the letter and when I spoke to someone else I was told the record has to be clean. Not whining, but it's amazing that everone that is in the program, or that has gone through before had NO criminal record. That sounds so harsh "criminal record", it was a mistake that was not on me but may have caused me a great opportunity. I'm soooo very depressed about this. Any feedback or help on this mjatter w uld be greatly appreciated. Just sick over this.

Hi StephC1073,

Could you tell me anything about the Background check that is required for clinical rotations? Really need your help....thanks!

i am about to go to an information session at bauder. Can you tell me about the rn program? how long is it? when does it start. costs. do you like it so far?

don't give up, i know people with LPN licenses with all kinds of charges. even a girl was permitted by the state boards to take her nclex and get her license after a drug trafficking charge. its really up to the board of nursing. good luck! Just don't give up!

The program at Bauder is going well. We are only taking our pre-reqs this quarter Micro/A&PI/English/Math. I enjoy the small class sizes and the teachers are very good. There isn't much to tell right now since we are the first RN class and everything is new for us and the instructors. The program is about 18 months long and the tuition is much higher than public colleges since it is a private school but they offer financial aid.
