Anybody here hoping to get accepted to DeKalb Technical College Fall 2010?

Published

Just wondering if anyone here is trying for a spot at Dekalb Tech this fall?

We are supposed to hear whether or not we are accepted by May 28th....so nervous!

I was just wondering. What was everyone's GPA and TEAS score?

I was wondering the same thing as Shemeka

I was just wondering. What was everyone's GPA and TEAS score?

My GPA was 3.8 and TEAS score 78. I got accepted but now I am out of program. I so dissapointed with this college! Looks like they are faling students they don't like. All quorter I was making nothing but A and B on the tests. Some sudents don't ( I mean they are failed several tests)! And what I try to say..they are still in program and I don't! You can be very bright student and fail the labs check offs (they will do that for you). Looks like they are already have the list of students who will stay in program. They are said that I failed the check off because moniken leg felt down on my steril field ( I even didn't touch it!). All monikens are old and flimsy. Two instructors was staying and teaching and supporting sertain group of students. And our 2 groups didn't get any attention for two weeks! And of course they kick us out! They can kick you out for the bottle of soda in the hand or dress they dont like..Actually I happy now that it happened to me because I wasn't planning to work in nursing home anyway and hospitals almost stop hiring LPNs..I thinking to go on RN program.

Hi,

I'm really sorry about that. I've been hearing about the "check offs" that could end your time in the program. How long were you in? That seems sad to get kicked out and you had such good grades. Did they allow you all time to practice on the Check offs with instruction or were you expected to practice on your own time? Again, best of luck and I apologize about the program.

They will give you time to practice. In class and after in open labs.

Any chance you can petition to re enter the program next time it opens up again. I know it's too late for Fall, but just wondering. It's awful if you can't return after this.

I am so sorry you did not make it, however i want you to know that what is for you NO MAN can hold it from you and believe everything happens for a reason. Keep doing your thing. I agree with you on most levels of they pick who they want and it doesn't matter about others who work hard. DTC is full of - -IT they are very unprofessional and need to get it together because the will loose a-lot of students due to this reason. Hi,

Have you attended the DTC program? It seems as though you have first hand expereicnce. I hope there is no truth to them showing favoritism towards students in the program. That's awful. I've heard so many negative things about all nursing programs in ga. I guess you just have to pick your poison so to speak.

My suggestion to everyone who has gotten into the program and those who are waiting is to keep your options open. Don't put your eggs all in one basket because you never know what the future might hold. BEST OF LUCK:nurse:

Congrats to u also :)..im so excited and this is just the beginning...but here's my email address [email protected] ....and i look forward to meeting you too.

Hey, I sent you an email.

First week was a whirl wind. I had 3 classes and tons of info thrown at me for each class....so much so that we had a hard time remembering what info/assignments went for each class! My schedule was Monday thru Thursday 8:10am- 3:30pm for 2 of my classes then we had an online class. We had tests each week for each class and had to keep at least a 70 average to remain in the program.

The last 2 weeks of classes were dedicated to the lab and learning A LOT of skills that we had to know and perform on check off day to remain in the program. VERY STRESSFUL time. After we passed the check-offs, we started our clinicals at area nursing homes for the next 2 weeks then we met back up to take our nursing fundamentals final which was 30% of our grade and was MUST PASS test.

All but 3 people advanced after the check-offs.:yeah: It is sad to see anybody fail though. It is pretty hard and they are very strict.

I am about to start my second quarter next week. It is med surg I. 2 days a week in the class and 2 days a week at the clinical sites at area hospitals. :yeah:

Ready to get it started again.

How are you?

Hi StephC

Is it possible for me to email you. I have a question for you. Thanks in advance for your help!

Does anyone know where Dekalb Tech does clinicals and also what they mean by a clear background check. I have traffic on my background, but not sure of any convictions. I don't want this to affect me and running out of time for an expungement.

Anyone that hhas actually been in the lpn program here, or able to help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
