Any young african american travel nurses?

Published

I was wondering if there were any young african american travel nurses and which assignement did u enjoy the most? On my first assignment and I'm not enjoying myself. I want to know the best places to go.

Are you guys venturing out of your home states first or trying to get your feet wet in your own state. As much as I want to ball out in Cali there is money to be made here in Texas. I'm 2 hours from Dallas, an hour from Austin, 2 hours from San Antonio and about 3 from Houston. I think I may just start here in-state and get used to the idea of traveling. I work local agency in Austin but that is PRN. This would be full-time traveling.[/quote']

I ventured out of my home state( originally from Ohio have been living in NC) . I figured if I'm gonna do it I want to fully jump all the way in. A lot of people told me should stay close but I knew if I was too close I wouldn't get the experience I wanted so here I am in Houston. But so fair love it and have no complaints!!

Cool. Well, now my hospital is offering me a charge nurse position. I've been "relief" charging occasionally but they want me to do it full-time now so, I have some decisions to make soon! Trying to weigh the pros and cons of both.

Hi DST1919 I am from cleveland and I signed up with CC and I see they do have positions in columbus How has it been so far working with CC. I am single with no kids but I am still afraid of the now knowing about the travelling nursing. I am excited as well too dont get me wrong its the not knowing. Do you have a home base in ohio somewhere?

HI im a young AA travel RN (just turned 26)... I took my first travel assignment in March and its 13 weeks long. So far the experience is good. The people I work with are nice and easy to get alone with. Plus its several travel nurses where I work. Sometimes it seems like its only travel nurses lol. IM in INdiana!!

What part of Indiana?, I just took my first Travel assigment in Evansville for July

Specializes in ER.

Im a 29yr old AA female looking to travel to the Dallas/Fort Worth area at the end of the year! Is anyone else looking at that area? I plan to work in the ER and stay with my best friend who lives out there. The hospital I work at now is very receptive to travelers but I know some places aren't. Any advice is welcomed!

Hi, Are there any AA travel nurses I'm Los Angeles?

Its really nice to see the AA community on this site! I'm a recent grad 22 y/o and I definitely want to do travel nursing after I get about 1 to 2 years experience. I like Cali and Texas. For those who travel do you have to pay anything for housing and transportation when you're there how does it work? Thanks :)

hi lpnnickki, my home base is also the Cleveland area. i totally understand the fear of the unknown, but not having children or a husband, gave me the "now or never" mindset. i love traveling. Im ready to take the next step out of Ohio. Right now, I am working on my Cali, Texas, and Georgia licenses.

hello nursesrock84,

I am definitely looking at that area. I am an ER nurse, as well, but specifically Peds ER. Have you ever heard of anyone transitioning from Peds ER to Adult ER on a travel assignment? I am trying to make myself more marketable, but without adult experience, don't know how willing an Adult ER would be wiling to hire me.

Hi im late but im also in Evansville currently until September. What unit are you working on?

nursesrock84.... I am desperately looking to travel to Dallas at the end of this year too! I am in Peds ER/Trauma. Where are you now and what is your specialty? I don't know much about how receptive the hospitals there are to travelers. I guess it would depend on which hospital, department, etc. I'm just gonna say a prayer that whatever opportunities become available, go well, and I have the best experience one could ask for. Go for it!

Hi, I'm currently working a travel assignment in Los Angeles and wondering if there is anyone in the city as well?
