I was wondering if there were any young african american travel nurses and which assignement did u enjoy the most? On my first assignment and I'm not enjoying myself. I want to know the best places to go.
Hello all,
I'm really happy that someone started this thread. I too am an AA nurse and I have been traveling off and on since 2008. I also travel with my family (husband and 2 kids) I am actually looking to travel from LA to NY soon and maybe end im Houston Texas, possibly. I have been to a lot of places and met tons of people which is great. The only bad thing is that travel nursing has changed tremendously since I started back in 2008. But it is still the best way to travel this great country of ours. Good luck to you all. Message me any time if you have questions. Nice to meet you all and hear all your stories.
I would like to start the new year traveling. I work in Chicago, I am an AA, 23 years old and currently have about 16 months experience on a Hem-Oncology floor that specializes in BMT & I am chemo certified. I am looking to start an assignment in mid-January or February...whenever I can get the heck outta here! I seriously need a change and travel nursing is something I've wanted to do for years!
Hello to everyone!
QuittaRN I was curious as to if you took a position in NY? I'm new to this site but new to travel nursing as well and will be taking my first assignment in Hartford, CT and Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Just seeing if there are any AA nurses near me traveling as well.
TanaRN85,
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to take that NY assignment :-(. But I do suggest that since you will be so close that you make sure to visit NY. Wonderful city, I lived there from birth until 13 and I also traveled in NY in the past, so I am a little biased but check it out for yourself. I hope you enjoy your assignment in CT. Is it your first assignment? I would also suggest Boston Childrens I've never traveled there myself but have met nurses that loved it there. Good Luck!!
Hello ladies!
I've been debating on travel nursing vs going back to school for masters. I'm 23 and will have 2 years tele/med-surg experience in July. I think its time for me to venture off. I still live with my parents, I'm single and I work in the same hospital that I was born in. Think its time for me to leave the nest. But anyways, I'm looking to possibly start this summer or spring. I've only been in contact with one recruiter for about a year and he is constantly emailing and calling me to see if I'm still interested. I think I've finally made up my mind to start. Are there any first timers looking to start this summer? Does anyone have any advice.

Hi, I'm a 28 yo AA RN and I just completed my first assignment!! I know no AA black travel nurses. For my next travel assignment I would like to go to an AA friendly traveler friendly place out west. Any suggestions? Also is there a chat site for AA travel nurses available. I'd love to meet more of us :)
