Any young african american travel nurses?

Published

I was wondering if there were any young african american travel nurses and which assignement did u enjoy the most? On my first assignment and I'm not enjoying myself. I want to know the best places to go.

I am currently in LA working at Kaiser LAMC! What part of LA do you live? I'm in Los Feliz.

Got my first assignment near the Tampa area starting 1/20. Anybody else gonna be in that area?

Specializes in Oncology.

Blessedone1 I am working with AYA now to possibly get me to KU Med in Kansas.

Will anyone be able to provide me with any insight into interviewing? I am possibly going to be called for one this week..& this will be my first assignment if I agree.

I'm not sure if 30 is considered young but I'd like to think so. I'm currently finishing up my 1st assignment in Denver CO. Coming out here from NC was truly an eye opening experience. I work nights and at my old hospital just about every night shift nurse was a minority, mostly AA and a few Filipino nurses. I come here and at times I'm the only AA staff member on the unit. Denver is a beautiful city with lots to do. You can try using meetup dot com to find groups of people with similar interests to hang out with. I'm leaving mid February for an assignment in Austin, TX that's set to start on the 3rd. I was wondering if anyone else was heading out that way. If so, perhaps we can meet up and hang out.[/quote']

Hey there!! I'm also headed to austin to start a assignment on March 3rd. And I'm from NC!!!! We should def link up!

Hello to all! Im a 27y/o AA Male RN traveler, currently on my second assignment in Las Vegas all the way from SC. Hoping to go to San Diego next. Anyone in the Vegas area hit me up!

Looking to travel to texas in june. Anyone else heading that way?

Specializes in Oncology.

I am finishing up an assignment in May here in Kansas City - I am already licensed in Texas and would like to go to Houston next!

That's where I plan to go. Whol at company do you travel with and did you endorse your license in texas?

Specializes in Oncology.

I am traveling with AYA healthcare and I did endorse my license to TX...it took a while bc I am from Illinois so they took forever to verify my Illinois license..also, the TX temp license took me exactly a month to receive when they say you'll receive in about 15 days..temp license lasts four months. Background check and everything is complete so I'm waiting on permanent licensure there.

Specializes in GYN/GON/Med-Surg/Oncology/Tele.

There are a few of us heading to Austin in the next couple of weeks. Im from NC so I didn't have to worry about getting a Texas license since it's a compact state. What part of Texas are you interested in traveling to?
