  1. Hello to all! Im a 27y/o AA Male RN traveler, currently on my second assignment in Las Vegas all the way from SC. Hoping to go to San Diego next. Anyone in the Vegas area hit me up!
  2. As a traveler is it common/legal to be paid a flat rate for overtime hours instead of the actual time & 1/2 dollar amount? My company pays a flat rate for any overtime hours worked which is about $10 less than the actual overtime amount, not to mention any overtime is fully taxed.. When i questioned my agency about it, they said that its because the hospital pays them a flat rate. Your inputs are greatly appreciated.... Thanx!
  3. I'm a new into the world of traveling (RN) and have received my 1st offer doing medsurg on the east coast with American Mobile. The pay i kinda figured is not enough (about $1200 take home weekly including housing stipend) with housing stiped the pay would be about $400 less weekly. All other qoutes i have received have been about the same pay range. Any suggestons, tips, higher paying companies? I have a compact license.
  4. If you are named in a lawsuit while working for a facility and then leave the facilty before the case is closed will you still have rights to legal representaion under their professional liabilty insurance carrier.
  5. Noticed a recent event on a medsurge where a patient was reported to be in 3rd degree heart block. The nurse of the patient was notified by CMU at the end of her shift that her patient in room xx had a rythm change to 3rd degree heart block.. The Md was notified, the patient was soon seen by the md and was ordered a cardio consult. It was soon discovered that the name was screwed up on the tele monitor where they had the wrong room number but the right patient being monitored. So long story short, cmu reported on the wrong patient. Turns out the patient being reported on was not on tele monitoring. The cardic consult was cancelled. But the real patient (who happens to belong to another nurse) was not identified/ treated until the name mix up was discovered. I was just wondering who was at fault?
  6. I just completed the LPN-ADN transition program @ Trident this past summer. It was challenging @ times but most definately do-able. The most challenging classes for me were Nur207(psych) & Nur219(management). Ironically I was told at these would be the two easiest classes, boy were they WRONG!!! But all the hard work definately pays off & i can finally breathe now as a R.N.! Goodluck guys!
  7. @ Channell check ur P.M.
  8. I honestly spent 4 faithful hrs studying, or shall i say cramming the night b4 my exam after being out of school for a month & I passed with 141 questions
  9. I took the Nclex-lpn 3 years ago with 85 questions and it was alot harder than the Nclex-Rn that i just took today which cut off @ 141 questions. Out of the entire 85 questions on the lpn-nclex i knew i got about 5 of them right for sure! But i passed!
  10. You are so right, i dont know if its the area im in or what. The whole idea of me getting my RN was to work in a hospital but it looks like its gonna be much harder than i thought.
  11. I've been a lpn for 3 years and always thought it was fairly easy to find a job. Now that im a new grad RN, i am not havin much luck finding a job. Even the company I work with as a LPN is not letting me work as a RN! I dont know what it is about LPN's but i think they have a bigger job market right now!

  13. Lpn since age 21, finishing last 7 days of ADN program now. Im 24.
  14. This is exactly how i feel, i usually do good on the practice questions but seems as tho the actual exam is alot different. Im just having a hard time focusing/ grasping the info. Im gonna request some 1:1 interaction with my instructor before the next test to help understand the concept of choosing the 'most right' answer...
  15. Just took my first test in my ADN mental health nursing class and bombed it. I am like sooo upset because i have never failed a nursing test (second year student). I just cant seem to grasp the info because it just so much different from a typical med-surg course. Someome, anyone, please give me some advice on studying/ understanding psych...
