I was wondering if there were any young african american travel nurses and which assignement did u enjoy the most? On my first assignment and I'm not enjoying myself. I want to know the best places to go.
The hospital is ok, and the staff is very accepting of travelers. The hospital is very busy, but not a trauma center like I'm used to and that's ok. I hate I had to sit and do all that testing, including the PSDS testing everyone talks about. It wasnt that bad. I've already been asked to extend!

Wow that's great I'm definitely gonna keep them in mind when my contract is up !!
Will be starting an assignment at main methodist on 7/21. Anyone else gonna be in the area? Anyone know any good safe apartments near the hospital?
I don't know if you are referring to the Sacramento Methodist, but if you are, I did not stay near the hospital. I stayed at the Arden Acres Executive Cottages which is about a 15 minute drive on Highway 99 South. My monthly rate was $1600/month including all inclusive. This may be a little steep for some, but I live alone at home and I don't do sublets or renting rooms. I love my privacy and it was a one bedroom cottage that had everything I needed right down to the dishes. If I ever work in Sacramento again, I will surely stay there again. My agency gave a pretty good housing stipend, so I still made out ok.

I am a young 23yo AA female and I currently have 8mo RN experience out of Chicago on a Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant unit. I just took my chemo class so that I can be certified to give Chemotherapy and Biotherapy. I am interested in traveling to NY, CA, FL, possibly TX. My yr will be up in August and I just began to strongly consider traveling starting this yr. The lease to my apt is up at the same time...If I decided to just stay here, it wouldn't be until about Aug 2014 that I would consider a travel assignment again just because I wouldn't want to have an apt here, while I'm living somewhere else. I know someone who traveled after a yr and loves it. I'm just nervous and don't know if I'll ever be sure of when I'm ready!
I was working in Krakow (in Poland).
I worked only with older tourists. I employed at the hotel. I was responsible for a safe stay and sightseeing, sometimes I help with transport to and from the airport.
