i'm new here and just found this site. i will be starting biology 110 in the fall. i already have a bs in education and will be going back to the community college i started at 25 years ago! this is something i should have done way back then, but , i was young and stupid and had no confidence in myself. but i'm doing it now!
i'm so excited i have already gotten my biology book and started reading and taking notes. fortunately, my instructor has a website as well and i've been following along and getting a head start.
anyone feel like the oldest in class? i have this image of being stuck in a classroom with a bunch of 18 year olds...lol. i am taking night classes though so hopefull that means the average age goes up.
people keep telling me how old i'll be when i'm finally an rn, but heck, i'll be that old in a few years whether or not i'm a nurse, so i might as well go for it.
anyone else over 40 like me?
Happy to announce I survived my first Anatomy lab!!!And I wasy of course the oldest girl in the lab and my poor 19yr old partner was more interested in getting a date then figuring out the lab
...I think she was successful
Doesn't this bug you though? I did a group project with a few youngsters over the summer and they were not focused at all.
I ended up doing most of the work.
I'd love to be able to do labs on my own.

Similar thing happened on a bio chem review this summer. The 20 somethings were more interested in "texting" than LEARNING.
If it happens to me in a lab I'm not shy--I'll pull the Prof to the side and complain and if that doesn't work I'll go to the Department Head. I'm there to learn just like you and have no time for those who are interesting in "scoring".

Hi, seems to be the central theme here. I am 46 years old and after graduating from college 24 years ago, I am going back to school (hopefully). I am attempting to go to a private nursing college. I say "attempting," because, for the life of me, I cannot master that HOBET-NET exam (taken it 3 times) as I suffer from test anxiety. It has been so long since I had to study any of the subjects on this test, that I feel quite ridiculous, and I am missing it by mere points.
All of the community college nursing programs are full, and I am not willing to do all of my pre-reqs over again, as I would be 50, by the time I took the NCLEX-RN's, and then began my career as a nurse. Frustrating....
Anyone else have the same issues?
See if you can find someplace to learn Yoga to relax just prior to a test. It really works and isn't too expensive especially at the YMCA. Lotsa professional athletes use it prior to a big game or event.

I tell everyone that my brain has had YEARS to create lots and lots of neuronal connections. That's gonna make school EASIER! :chuckle
Truthfully, though, I have noticed that when I study I sometimes can feel my brain lighting up with a hundred different connections all at the same time. I don't think so linearly any more; I see lots of networks and connections simultaneously. Of course, I still forget where I left my cell phone sometimes... :chuckle
