Any Nursing Applicants For Fall 2009?

U.S.A. New York

Published

HELLO Future Nurses!!!

I was getting familiar in this forum (I posted a couple of responses in the PBISON thread several minutes ago.)

But I was wondering are there any aspiring nursing applicants out there in NYC who would be applying next year to any programs? Anyone attending NYC City Tech, BMCC, Laguardia, Queensborough, Kingsborough (it doesn't even matter as long as you're in NYC, (smile) Would like to have an application buddy or buddies. I figured maybe I can get to know some folks now and as we we get closer to the deadlines, we will dive into the process together.

Feel free to respond here or send me any messages, and we can swap email addresses or something.

I just mailed my letter requesting readmission into the Philip Beth Israel School of Nursing for the fall 2009 semester.

Hey Tracy,

I thought you were attending Beth Israel; did you drop out? Just curious. What is your outlook for the Fall 2009? I am going to try to get all my transcripts together now and hopefully, take the NLn next year.

hi. yes I'm interesting for the fall 2009 application. I'm a student at BMCC. how would this work tho? thank you so much

I've already applied to PBISN and will take the NLN exam on wednesday, depending on how I do on the NLN, I will decide on applying to other schools.

I begin clinicals @ KCC in March.

I am kinda all over the place with my admissions ( sheesh this is costing me $$$ for admission fees) but I want to keep my options as open as possible. So here goes my list for fall 09 admissions, Trinitas School of Nursing, St. Vincents (staten island) school of nursing, Kingsborough Community College and Touro College. If I dont get accepted to any of those then I would be deeply hurt... But I have faith so I am keeping my fingers crossed:up:

I took most of my pre reqs at bmcc and medgar. The problem with bmcc is that you need a 4.0 to a 3.7 average to get in that means all A's. that deters a lot of people to apply because mr sierra wont even talk to you if you dont have that gpa.I applied in nyc and away and got accepted to a few schools.atahe sad thing is in the program many people do not make it pass fundamentals because they took easy professors to get a A.Do not put all your eggs in one basket.

I coudnt get into BMCC program with 3.77 gpa for 4 pre reqs and 3.86 for overall. I seen many students changed their major from nursing to others because of this issue. So, I have learned from bmcc one thing; if you wanna earn something u have to pay either with money or your time. There are plenty schools and they have many different reqs. I have seen a student who works in CNN as a writer got a C+ from english 101 by part time teacher even Eng chair says you should have all A`s. Some Cuny teachers or departments especially nursing deps can be nasty.

I understand your points because many people choose easy profs to get A`s but eventually they cant make it in their first nursing semester, thats why in bmcc overall 15/18 out of 30/35 people fail to nursing fundamental. :typing

I understand what you mean. With a high gpa you should apply in nyc and schools away if you dont have any kids and responsibilities.I had a 3.3 in my science average and was accepted to alll the schools I applied to so far.I think its very good to have a high gpa to be competive ,but I know people with a 3.5 who want to change thier major from nursing because they do not have a 4.0.I laugh when I see this because they dont know there is many schools thqat will accept them with this gpa.Schools are quick to say 4.0 but if everyone is so smart how come many fail out???????the easy professors that is why.The only thing I liked about Medgar is they gave department midterms and finlas for the science courses so It did not matter if you prof was easy or not.

I applied to BMCC for the 2009 Fall. I think we are suppose to hear back sometime around June since the orientation is I think July 14 or around that time. I have a 4.0 for all the 4 prereq's and Mr. Sierra seems to be positive during our meeting, but then again that doesnt mean anything. He's quite tempermental to some people. Anyway, I hope I get in. I didnt bother applying to other programs, which might be a bad move :( But let's hope all goes well!! Has anyone heard back from Mr. Sierra?

I also applied to bmcc fall 2009 Mr. sierra is always nice to me the times i go see him ...i guess I guess some students are just annoying ...but he told me you should receive a phone call the first week of june .....and i heard someone else say that the second week people get rejection letters in the mail my pre reqs gpa is 3.93 i also applied to lichson pblgarcia .....i think you have nothing to worry about good luck to you

I'm just curious what Nursing Fundamentals consists of in the CUNY system? I left CUNY in 2007 to switch to SUNY. I go to SUNY ROCKLAND, in suffern, new york. I could'nt even get into the program at Bronx Community College, but I just completed my 1st Fundamental clinical worth 3.5 credits. The next Fundamental clinical is in Fall 2009 also worth 3.5 credits. Do the cuny schools offer their Fundamental classes as 1 class? or do they also break them up as my school does? This 1 class was difficult and More people failed, than passed. I don't understand the high failure rates with these nursing courses. Thanks for any answers you may be able to offer.

I also applied to BMCC day program for Fall 09. I was also told that Mr. Sierra will be calling the first week of June regarding acceptance to the program. He also told me that if I do receive a call to make sure that I am available July 14th. I believe that is registration day for the Nursing Fall 09. I just finished taking my last 2 pre req's with A's.

Good Luck everyone.

Question:

Does anyone know anything about taking a math test in order to get in the program?
