Any hospital hiring new grads? anywhere in the country?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.

for those who are still seeking employment try this: http://www.nahcr.com/Members%5CDirectory%5CDirectory.pdf

I found this awhile back and it's actually how I obtained my job. It list nursing recruiters in all 50 states if you want them by geographical location, state by state, that starts on page 101. I hope this helps !

Thanks for the link!

I feel very fortunate to live where I do every time I log in to this thread - everyone I graduated with has a job as a nurse. Come on down to the sticks, y'all.

What health care organizations are hiring down new grads down there? I'm looking all over right now, but I think Texas would be nice.

Hawaii is very hard for new grads.......I'm finding that out since moving away from California to Hawaii.

Keep the inputs coming, perhaps I may have to move away to some of the places everyone here is mentioning

I'd hang up Florida. I read it's one of the states where supply well exceeds demand.

If you're willing to take it on, I regularly see stuff in South Dakota and western upper midwest. Seems wide open there (pardon the pun). Low cost of living and if you're single, it's IMO a great place to meet a good guy. (My bf is from there).

Try the Delaware hospitals. I thought I saw advertisements a few weeks back.

Parts are nice. But be careful in Texas. Dallas and Houston, San Antonio, have some serious crime issues and whatever you do, stay away from the border cities now.

I saw a couple of people saying they're hiring in TX? Which hospitals? I'm from philly and there are NO jobs out here for new grads, I'm willing to go just about anywhere at this point

Well, if you look at USAJobs.com and search for jobs in TX, you will find lots of jobs listed. Not all require experience, but unfortunately you have to read the actual job description to find out. I'm not in TX so that's the best I can do for ya.

I believe that the Franciscan System in Tacoma, Washington, is hiring new grads, and is offering a New Grad Residency/Internship.

Tacoma is located about 25 miles south of Seattle, and about 30 miles north of Olympia.

It is a very nice area to live in. Tacoma is where McChord AFB is located, and Fort Lewis, an Army base with an Army hospital, is only 6 miles south of Tacoma. Fort Lewis hires civilian nurses, and is almost a brand new facility. I was very impressed when I was there last year (Modern equipment, no lift policy, patient lifting equipment)

Look them up and give them a call. I also believe that there are hospitals in the Seattle area, who are hiring new grads. Look up hospitals in the Seattle area, (Overlook Hospital, Harrison Medical Center), and there are others.

Hope that helps.

Northwestern Medical Center, in St. Albans, VT, is hiring new grads. It's a small town with meth labs, a crime problem, and recent flooding, but Burlington is only 20 miles away, and Montreal is 75.

And it is in an area of great natural beauty, if that appeals to you. Also, VT is considering implementing a single payer system, which would be very exciting.

There is another thread on the General Nursing Discussion about lots of jobs available in Minot, ND. I don't know exactly where this is, but it sounds cold. Their online job listings say experience preferred but not required. It seems to be a booming area d/t oil/gas drilling.

If I was a young single new grad that couldn't get a job, I think I could live in the frozen North for a couple of years; get that invaluable hospital experience then have a much larger pool of jobs to pick from at that point.

Back when I was a new nurse and there was a recession many RN's were taking jobs in the middle East; i.e. moving far from home to an area with tough weather (and tough social conditions). But even then, those hospitals were kind of picky and were mostly only taking people with BSN's and 2+ yrs experience.

Oh, the link to the other thread;
