i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!
name: karen
school: brandon university, canada
program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing
what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.
biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!
what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!
my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!
i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll
So this is fairly soon then? Well, I'm glad you are having it because I think that will probably be less painful in the longrun!! Let me know how you are doing!I am having the surgery. I'm waiting until after I take a trip to San Francisco. Which reminds me I have to call my drs office to find out if they have scheduled me yet. I even bought myself a Nintendo DS to keep myself occupied while recovering.
Congrats from me too to everyone who has recently been accepted in his/her program! Good to have you join us in this thread and hope to see you around posting about your next few years!
So exactly where is everyone at? Are you in classes right now? When do you start? What courses are you taking, etc.?
I start again September 5th or thereabouts and am fortunately finished the elective required for 3rd year. Here's what my next year looks like:
Term 1:
Human Responses IV
Nursing Practice IV
Gender and Lifespan I
Term 2:
Human Responses V
Intro to Health Research Methods
Gender and Lifespan II
Nursing Practice V
As usual, you notice the titles are so general they could fit just about anything into it! From the sounds of things they have said about the curriculum it sounds like it should be really interesting and I'm looking forward to it ... although ... at this point, not as much as I'm looking forward to NOT having to study for the summer!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, Kristen! Wow, congrats on starting something new for you!! Congratulations on your scholarships! From where were those awarded? That's so great!!! How are the kids with you starting school? Do you have previous university? I have 4 kids, ages 21-8 so .. not quite the same but I can relate to the age spread of your children and that's kind of cool! We also have a 19 year old and a 12 year old. The boys are the bookends for the two girls. Do you have boys? Girls? So is hooftrimming anything like ferrying (sp?)? We have a friend that recently retired from that .. hard work!!My family had a dairy farm until recently...husband is still a dairy hooftrimmer (like the one on the tv show Dirty Jobs). I have 7 children ages 20-7, and obviously this nursing school stuff is a big leap from my recent past. Got accepted into nursing school this last week and am lucky enough to have a couple of scholarships. I've wanted to do this for forever and now it's a reality! Can't wait to get started.
Wow, look at me, full of questions again!!
