i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!
name: karen
school: brandon university, canada
program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing
what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.
biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!
what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!
my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!
i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll
Hey Guys! I am an older student (I will be 40 in June) and I have 3 kids, (girl, boy, girl) 14,13,10. I will graduate in May 09 if the money holds out!lol! I have worked as a CNA since 2003 and I don't fear much about nursing. The only things I have seen seasoned nurses struggle with that I may also is placing foleys on older pts (specifically woman);the anatomy becomes difficult to distinguish, and placing an IV. I am very good at drawing blood, but sometimes even good veins won't thread.... ya know!I love to work in high drama, give me ICU or ER, but I love babies too. Our OB clinicals are Spring 08, and it may turn out to be hours of boredom seconds of panic, we shall see.
Hello everyone! I am brand new here and I just received my acceptance letter for the fall RN program!
My interest at this time? I've wanted to be a L&D nurse for half my life. However, there are so many things that fascinate me, so I'm leaving my options open. Pediatrics and working in a Children's hospital might be fun.
Biggest fear? Not being able to juggle family responsibilities with school.
About me? I'm a mother of four. My children are 19, 16, 3 and 2. I've dreamt of being a nurse since my first child was born. I attended school part-time until my second child was born and then life got busy and complicated. Sometimes my dream of being a nurse seemed to be slipping far away! I finally had the opportunity to return to school about 18 months ago, which hasn't always been easy with babies, but I was accepted into nursing school after my first try! I'm excited but I've definitely got butterflies in my stomach!

Hi, guys!!!! I'm finally finished year 2 .. whew, what a long haul that was .. I think it was the worst year of school I've ever spent! Oh well, I am going to enjoy the summer .. maybe do some reading for next year but not for a few weeks!! Yippee!!! I'm working at a personal care home as a health care aide for the summer -- that is something new for me so I am going to learn as much as I can and enjoy it as much as I can!
How is everyone else doing? I know I have a lot of catching up to do here!!
Nope it does not grow back. You just learn to live without it and I don't know if I can. If you're not athletic like me, you don't have to have the surgery. My surgeon said it's up to me if I want the surgery and the rehab that goes with it. I'm thinking seriously about it.Malia
How is your ACL, Malia? Have you been thinking any more about the surgery? Have you decided whether or not you are taking a course in the summer?
Wow, I'm full of questions!! I finished my course yesterday and, man, I couldn't be more glad to have it over for the summer!
