  2. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for oreintation!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Hey just saw your post and I wanted to first off say congratulations! I'll be starting weatherford this fall as well, I'm so excited! I wish I could bottle some of this enthusiasm for later in the year... See ya at oreintation!
  4. Hey there I'm starting the ADN program at Weatherford College this fall, during oreintation they are suppose to discuss student insurance that can be obtained while in school, I hope this helps! Good luck, Jennifer
  5. Hey there Night Owl, I'm a scrub tech, who in august will be starting nursing school. In our program we were taught to practice practice practice, 3 min's to gown and glove is a long time, however I'm sure with practice you'll be doing that in 30 seconds in no time at all ... Our instructors urged us to practice at home by refolding our gowns as well as placing our gloves back in the wrappers and repeating the same steps over and over, yes it takes time and is tedious but I guarentee you you'll get that extra practice you need. Good luck with your program, Jennifer
  6. I didn't find these types of questions to be on the NET, however if your planning to take any tests other than the NET these questions may be fair game. If your just taking the NET I would mainly study the reading sections which involve critical thinking, as they can be very tricky. Good luck, Jennifer
  7. A Kelly clamp is similar to a crile(aka. hemostat or stat) the main difference is that the kelly clamp is slightly thicker with wider jaws. They come in "regular" as well as "long" sizes, so make sure you find out what size you need. http://www.allheart.com/pm501.html heres a link with a picture of a "kelly clamp"
  8. Thats great!!!!!! Congratulations, and good luck with your schooling!!!!
  9. I would love a copy of the list!!! Thanks so much!!!!!
  10. Thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
  11. name: jennifer school: weatherford college, weatherford tx program: adn what area of interest at this time: operating room (i work there now as a surgical technologist) biggest fear: starting iv's, and paying for all this what you'd like us to know about you: i feel blessed to have been given this opprotunity to further my education, i'm sure there are many out there who are equally deserving, and when things get rough and i'm ready to throw in the towel so to speak i'm going to remember that!
  12. I got my call on thrusday I'm no longer a alternate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohooo!!!!!!!!!!! :balloons: Wow what a great feeling! Is there anyone else out there starting the ADN program at Weatherford College this fall??? The lady that called me told me thrusday she'd be mailing my official acceptance letter out friday and I still have yet to get it (yes I know it's only monday!), but I'm worried that the mailman might of lost it or they could have possibly forgot about me.........Im so nervous I don't want my spot to be given to someone else. I'm going to wait till wendsday and then start calling.
  13. Hey there, your not alone there are many of us out there in the same situation, so please dont get down! Ive been trying to stay busy and keep my mind off of it. I walked 5 miles today havent done that in forever! I don't even know where I fall on the list or how many alternates they sent letters out too, that would atleast help me guage my chances of getting in. Perhaps we should start a support group thread for alternates.. with some catchy little title lol Anyway I'm going to go on planning things like I have been accepted because I know someday (hopefully someday soon) I'll be able to say that I too have been accepted.
  14. Hey beachbum, I'm currently a surgical tech pursuing a degree in nursing. My answer to your question would be it depends on the facility. The facility I work at allows Rn's to scrub as well as circulate. While doing clincals for surg tech I noticed it was up to each facility there are lots of facilitys in the dallas/ fortworth area where RN"s scrub, as a matter of fact some of my best preceptors while in school happened to be scrub nurses.
  15. I feel your pain, nubian really I do. It's great to always have a back up plan and keep the hope up. I'd love to know where on the list I stand and how many letters went out yanno. I also had one class left "phed" which I'm currently enrolled in. Its nice that they invite us to orientation in the event we are accepted we arent totally out of the loop, some schools don't invite alternates. Anyhow good luck!
