YAY! CONGRATS! AND happy job hunting.:D:yeah::smokin::yeah::yeah:

I took my test and passed it today! I have to say I was really shocked at how simple the skills test was and I'm not sure the nurse was really allowed to make it so simple. I studied so hard and was psyched to do all my skills and we only had to do a few. I suppose I shouldn't complain, but I was caught off guard.

I passed my test today too!!! In Maryland its different than most states. To work in a nursing home you have to be licensed as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)..its really dumb but in the end I think its just about money more than anything lol. But anyways getting back to the test: it was 7 of us who were taking the test & before today we spent all week in a review session so that helped a ton! The written part was a breeze & I'm pretty sure I only missed one question..and it was a really dumb question to miss too! But I'm happy. The practical portion was a little hard b/c I was a bundle of nerves & all thumbs! But I had pretty okay skills: wash hands, respirations, feeding client, give bedpan & clean dentures. I think the lady administering the test didn't really look @ us when we performed the skills though, but hey! I'm not complaining lol!!! After me & my partner finished I was just about to fall to pieces !! But thankfully our skills scores were faxed back to us 30 minutes later & I passed!! We all hugged each other & took a deep breath b/c it was all behind us :D Sadly one person out of us 7 failed the written portion, but passed the skills. I think that the next time around she should take the oral version of the test b/c I think maybe the wording of the questions threw her off(she hasn't been in this country very long). Anyways it was a long day but I'm just so thankful I passed on the first try:balloons:

Now I'm a CNA...just need to get a job! I passed the state exam last saturday the 18th! yay!

Since I'm in school I'm just looking for a part time job, just to gain experience while I take my pre-req's for nursing!

Congratulations to you all!! I can't wait to post in here!

I passed my State test on Saturday...the 25th...:w00t:I have to say the hardest part was the anticipation of what skills you are going to have to do....

Took the test Saturday the 25th- just found out I PASSED today :) *cheers*

PASSED!!!

And get this...I passed with ONE SECOND left on the clock!

Aside from handwashing, I had denture care, vest restraint, ted sock and occupied bed.

The stockings and the occupied bed were byfar my WORST area in clinicals, so I was terrified.

I did fine up until I got to the vest restraint.....my mind went blank and I forgot how to do the ******* knots! :angryfire It took me 10 minutes to figure it out, and by the time I got done, I only had 4 minutes to do an occupied bed....I figured I was pretty much done for, and just tried to finish as best as I could.

Well, that was the quickest occupied bed I've ever made, and it was BEAUTIFUL if I do say so myself. ;) 100% mistake free, for once. I gave her the call light, removed gloves, washed hands, and as SOON as I announced that I was done, the clock beeped. I was still pretty convinced that I'd failed, but I just saw the results yesterday...passed with flying colors.

I passed! I had hand washing, stocking, unoccupied bed, feeding and mouth care. I barely passed the written though...weird. Now I have an interview with a nursing home thats beautiful AND on the same street as my house. I can look out my window and see it. Very close thankfully

I took my test on Tuesday. I passed the skills exam without much trouble then took my written test. Passed it with a 98%!! They told me that my score was the highest out of everyone that tested that day! I was so proud of myself! A great way to start off my new career!
