  1. I will have to remember this thread when I start my job next week.
  2. I just completed the CNA class at FP last month. Our instructor, who by the way, was the most awesome and friendliest instructor I have ever encountered, said the college may have to end the classes because they are running out of facilities to do the clinicals at.
  3. Thank you both for all of your help......you have no idea how much I appreciate it. :)
  4. I am a new CNA and I have an interview next Tuesday for a part-time night shift opening. Can you tell me what are your duties and responsibilities? What is your usual night routine and do you have a difficult time staying alert?
  5. I took my test and passed it today! I have to say I was really shocked at how simple the skills test was and I'm not sure the nurse was really allowed to make it so simple. I studied so hard and was psyched to do all my skills and we only had to do a few. I suppose I shouldn't complain, but I was caught off guard.
  6. This thread is such an inspiration to me and I'm sure, many others. I'm 38 years old and have been a stay-at-home mother for 11 years and helped my husband run his business. Now that we have 2 children starting college this fall (we still have an 8 year old,) it's time for mom to do something. I've always been interested in nursing and I just completed my CNA class and passed the state exam. I'm currently brushing up on my math skills and plan to start taking pre req classes this fall.
  7. Thanks WDWpixieRN and dbacon.....I appreciated reading both of your opinions.
  8. FlHopeful, I'm taking my state test on Saturday. I'll post how it went that evening.
  9. I've heard the average pay in the St.Louis nursing homes is $8.00 per hour. I'm going to apply at a facility that pays new inexperienced CNA's $9.00 per hour and after one year, it will increase to $10.00 per hour.
  10. Hello from St.Louis! My name is Dana and I've been lurking on this board for awhile, but I just found the CNA forum. Thursday will be my last day of training and our state test is on Saturday. I'm a bit nervous and I'll be glad when it's finished.
  11. I'm so grateful I found this board. As someone who is considering nursing, the advice I've been reading on this board is invaluable. I had no idea Sanford Brown had such negative reviews until now.
  12. Although I'm not the original poster, thank you for your suggestions. I personally intend to start my search next week. I've always been interested in nursing, but at age 38, I'm not sure if it's wise to invest so much time in schooling as a two year degree will take me 3.5 years. Sigh.
  13. It took me a little while to decipher your message, but once I did, I thought it was a good question. I'm also interested in LPN schools and I would imagine they aren't easy classes.
