Several had mentioned starting a study thread early so we could get prepared for our fall A&P class, so here goes. I have gathered several websites from both here and on my own, so wanted to post them early on so that we wouldn't have to search for them. Please feel free to add to them and also any advice or study tactics that seem to work for you.
Thankyou to Eveyone here at AllNurses who have provided so much information in one spot.

Ok, that's it for tonight....I have several others but hopefully this will keep everyone busy for a day or 2 :chuckle:yeah:I'm sure we all have diferent study habits and will need to find our own way there but I am hoping we can work together as a study team.
Maybe each day or two, someone could provide a study tip or an mneumonics for memorization for tissues or nerves, anything that is helping you learn. Or if you come accross somethin that you can't use, maybe someone else can.
OFF to Bed for me
This thread is helping me sooo much! I loved A&P in high school... and this thread made me realize that I retained more knowledge from that class than I thought. I'm not even nervous now... just excited to start! I'm seriously bouncing right now lol. I'm so excited! Plus I have a friend that decided to jump on the pre-nursing bandwagon with me, so I'm incredibly excited for her as well!
just thought i'd jump in.....my first post ever! i recently (as in a couple weeks ago!) decided to switch my major from education (ec-4) to nursing. i'm super excited but nervous as well. i'm not great at science but i'm taking a&p i this fall. i got my textbook and have ordered the cliff's notes and a coloring book to help me. all the info posted on here has been incredibly helpful for me. i'm so glad there's a site like this out there for all of us who are in the same boat.
Welcome KBC123......lots of support here.
Well, I now have my Lab book but not the A&P book....it's a new edition and the scholl hasn't recieved it yet....a cd comes w/the Lab book.....remember, me telling you my Prof wrote the book.....I skimmed thru....it looks great and PoshGirl....it does look like some of the pics are from Primal...I'll put the cd in ltr and let you know what it covers.
I aced Human biology w/an A today....I get to skip my final...YIPPEEEEE. One more final to go and I am done for 3wks except prepping for A&P and Chem....Oh and Inro to Respiratory Care......sigh, still no free time.
I'm going to school for Respiratory Care....2 yr program....I want to travel down the road....so after my 2yrs, I need 1 yr of experience and I can go on the road and travel some while I am still young enough to do it....I'll be 50 then.
RT's make pretty good money, are highly respected in medical field, usually work 3 12 hr shifts....move all over the hospital v/s staying on one floor....from the cradle to the grave....from emergency rooms to delivery of babies. I basically did alot of research and decided this was a better route for me right now....I'll go another 6mths after I graduate from RT and get my Cardiovascular Tech License as well......when I have a slow period next summer, I will be taking classes towards getting an RN....if I so choose to bridge over down the road....I think I will only need to do another 6-8mths then. That will basically put me anywhere in a hospital all over the Country and make good money for traveling....Travelers get most of their expenses paid....travel, lodging, double pay, you stay somewhere for 13wks and move on....I will be RV'ing, kids are grown....significant other will go w/me.
Aren't you glad you asked? LOL.....do a little research on Respiratory Care....it's a fast growing profession and a needed one....due to more babies being born w/respiratory issues from parents doing drugs....my generation is on a fast track for emphsyma(sp).....all those smokers....then you have sleep studies where Respiratory is the main focus....many things you can do.....not as many as RN, but then again....I want be doing alot of the things RN's do....like wipe behinds...I will be wiping noses...LOL....trading poo for boogies.
Wow, I need to watch my typing on here....my spelling seems off the wall....Laptop w/little light and a "t" that doesn't work 1/2 the time. I so want a new Mac....maybe when the school funds roll in.
PoshGirl, where is the website for those lectures? Is it posted on this thread? I have the one for the Woman Prof....I've listened to several of those and have been busy making Flashcards to place throughout the house....I am also on the the lookout for one of those large cheap paper skeleton decorations that you hang on your door at Halloween....I'm going to hang it on a inside door and label the parts w/flashcards or small strips of something that I can write on to give me a lifesize visual....I think you can get them for under $5...I'm already seeing Halloween stuff out. I plan on keeping him and tacking on a colorful heart, lungs, etc that I have printed off the computer. That will help w/Cardiovascular and I'll do the same for Respiratory....something cheap and easy to do......plus large enough I can see from anywhere.

Hey Everyone!!
If anyone has 40 bucks to spare, try "Anatomy and Physiology Revealed 2.0". It's an amazing interactive computer program with practice on dissection, histology, imaging and self tests. it has amazing anamation and will show you each layer of any system you choose and points out all of the important parts in each layer of each system.
For visual and auditory learners, it will be very helpful this semester!
