  1. @Ena1203 I was accepted to UTA on-campus and waitlisted for AP. I was also accepted to TCC and ended up going that route. Hard to believe I turned down a university for a community college but I did. The scheduling was just too intense for the on-campus program with my 2 kids. I will do the RN-BSN program online after I graduate. Nearly all my prereq's were from TCC (minus the nursing specific pre-reqs UTA requires...I took those at UTA) and I also have a 4.0 overall. So you can definitely get in to the on-campus program with that. I had no considerations. Hope that gives you some hope!!!
  2. ACCEPTED to the on-campus program. WAIT LISTED to the online program. Not partnered. 4.0/4.0 GPA. No considerations. Was denied to online last semester. Waiting to hear back from TCC. I honestly may go there because with my kids I'm not sure how I can pull off the on-campus program.
  3. I was denied for the AP BSN program this application period. I didn't apply traditional so my eggs were all in that basket. Anyways, I got a strange call from one of the Dean's asking if I would be interested in going to Denison, San Antonio or Longview. If I was, I would be accepted. That just won't work for me with small kids and living in DFW. I told her "no" and then told her I had already sent in my applications for the next AP BSN and traditional programs. She looked at my app and said with a 4.0 GPA I would definitely be accepted to the traditional program. Then she said "See you in the spring!" So I'm thrilled with that. I had no other considerations so the AP program is sort of out even with a 4.0. But without considerations and a 4.0 I will be a "shoe-in" (what she said!) for traditional. Anyone else looking to get in Spring 2012 to the traditional program??
  4. Hello everyone. I applied to the AP-BSN program but got denied a few weeks ago. Bummer. I am not partnered. I have a 4.0 GPA and a 98% HESI score. I emailed my advisor today to find out what I could as to why I wasn't accepted (even though I felt like it was because I wasn't partnered). She told me this cycle was extremely competitive. They only look at your GPA (they DO NOT look at HESI) and what considerations you have. She said nearly every person accepted had at least 1 consideration. I don't have any. So if you are looking to apply for the AP program, make sure you have a consideration or 2. So I am applying again (just in case!) but also I'm applying to the traditional program. I am also applying to TCC. Not my first choice but I've already been accepted there once and it will at least get me on the road to becoming a nurse!
  5. Is anyone planning on calling the department today to ask if they are indeed sending emails out?! I can never seem to get through and they never call me back or email me back. My husband told me I wasn't allowed to check my email today. I gave him my name and password and he is going to do it for me so he can surprise me (only if it's good news!). So if you get an email today, write something on here so at least I know they were actually sent!!
  6. Not sure about Houston. I'm not partnered either. When I originally called and spoke with someone about the AP program she basically told me I would be accepted no problem. I'm not sure where in the world she came up with that answer??? But that's why I pursued this program and now I'm seeing the chances of being accepted without a partner are slim to none.....I'm a little upset. All my eggs are in this basket and now I'm wishing I would have applied for the traditional program too. If I don't get accepted this time, I'm applying again but for BOTH programs. Is it Friday yet?! !? !? !?! ?!
  7. So the AP BSN emails probably won't be going out Friday? Just the traditional? Because I know how difficult it is for someone to enter some email addresses and press 'send'. The waiting game is not one I am good at. I wish they would just set a date and then we could all look on that date! It would hold them accountable and save their advisors the hundreds of emails they get from us asking when letters will be emailed! But perhaps I am just too logical.
  8. Hi all. I didn't even know this board existed! I am anxiously awaiting my letter/email for the AP BSN program. I'm currently in Patho and Pharm....studying for my finals. YIKES. Anyone know anything about the Pharm final?? I'm overwhelmed. I just emailed someone in the nursing office inquiring if the letter would still be ready for the end of April. I don't know how much longer I can wait and stay sane!! All my eggs are in this one basket and I am NOT partnered. I do have a 4.0 overall and did well on my HESI. But I don't if that's enough.
  9. I actually discovered that board after I posted on here. It makes me nervous!! I have a 4.0 GPA (in science and overall) and and 98 on my HESI but I am not partnered and haven't taken but a couple classes at UTA. And I read on that other board that only 12 people out of 70 accepted were unpartnered? Yikes. And that's after 1000+ applicants overall! Do you know if the spring or fall is more difficult to get in to, at all? If I don't get accepted this time, I will look for a job at a partnered hospital and try again.
  10. Hi. I put in my application for the AP-BSN program for fall 2012. I'm very anxious! This has been a long journey. For those of you who were denied or wait-listed previously, would you mind sharing your thoughts about why that happened? I'm just wondering what kind of GPA's they are looking for or if they truly want people that have been at UTA previously....just trying to figure out what my chances look like. I've planned my life around starting this fall so I will be a bit heartbroken if the plan changes. I was already accepted to TCC nursing school before and had to pull out before classes started because of an issue with my little girl. Best of luck to you all! We should hear in April sometime?
  11. I have a 4.0 and have worked REALLY hard to get it. I got out of high school as fast as I could and never went to college. I was not a fan of school. But then I found myself married and trying to get pregnant with our 2nd baby and realizing I wanted to go to school. I began prereqs for teaching before switching to nursing. I knew when I switched I HAD to get A's in every class to be competitive in the program. And here I am, only a couple classes away from nursing school and have kept my 4.0. It's all about determination, not smarts. I never would have considered myself "smart". But I knew how badly I wanted this and was willing to work to get it. I'm so glad I gave myself the chance to realize that. You can do it, too. If you truly put your mind to something and set a goal for yourself, as long as you don't give up and work hard, you can do anything.
  12. I took APII and Chemistry at the same time and it about did me in! I knew I needed A's in all my science classes so there was a ton of pressure and the classes were already hard enough. I personally would not add micro to it. But you have to determine how much time and energy you have to give.
  13. Yes, it can seem overwhelming, but don't worry about all the specifics needed to apply to NURSING school. First you need to do your pre-reqs. So don't worry about your immunization records, etc. I had to have several shots administered because I didn't have documentation that I'd had it done before. Shots aren't that expensive so if you can't find any records, you might just need to have them done again. Definitely talk to a counselor at the school you want to attend nursing school. Ask if classes from community college will transfer. I am currently finishing my last couple classes at a community college and transferring to a university where I can start nursing school after taking 3 pre-reqs there. Take as much as you can at community college. It's a lot cheaper and will get you the same result.
  14. I found that the anatomy pictures were REALLY low quality. I had no idea where the arrow was pointing to on the skeleton so I missed all the anatomy questions (and that is one of my strong areas!). There were physics. Hardly any physiology. The science part was by far the most difficult. Brush up on your algebra. The english part was all very easy. Overall, it was an easy test. I used the study book and that helped prep me. But the science was what I didn't like.
  15. Try to really understand things. Don't necessarily just memorize them (although alot of AP1 is memorization). But understanding WHY things are called that and WHY they are where they are....the WHY is so important and will help you remember things more. I started reading my book a couple months before school started because I was so nervous! I worked my tail off and came out with A's in both AP1 and 2. You just have to really work at it. But it's fun because it's what you WANT to learn.
