I'm a brand new grad and will am in a GN specialty program. Does any one have an OR Nurse Brain? I just want to start off getting into good habits and make sure I'm being thorough. Thanks.
  2. I understand what uou are saying but I am to learn ortho first.
  3. I just passed my NCLEX a few days ago so this is my first time posting in here! Boy, does it feel good. Enough of the wonderment.... I just interviewed and was offered my firsr job as an RN. It is a specialty nurse advance training program. I will be at an out patient surgical center learning how to be an OR nurse. This is a really great opportunity and I want to do a good job. I'm going to have about a week or so of downtown before the the position actually starts. This surgical center does a great deal of ortho surgery and I would like to get familiar with the names of the instruments to hopefully make things not seem so awkward in the OR and make mu transition a tiny bit smoother. Does anyone know a great place to help learn the names of ortho instruments? Thanks!
  4. Thank you so much for sharing all of that! I really appreciate your taking the time!
  5. Oh wow! That IS good to know! One thing though........My best friend is in Level 1 right now. They were just told that the NCLEX has changed from a "one answer" format to there being a possibility of multiple answers.....and, because of that, that ACC's tests would follow suit. Thanks so much for the encouragement. What helpful hints, advice can you give to make life a little bit easier for us in level 1? ...Anything you wish that you'd known or want to pass on?
  6. I just got mine.......CEC
  7. Ah, so you were given the same date? When I double-checked my message from Tammy it only stated that a "next steps email" would come. That could be in reference to getting our physicals done, background checks, etc..... Maybe we don't find out yet?
  8. Not yet........I keep checking my email. I know that, in my class, we had our final for Nursing Skills last night so I'm sure they have to evaluate who passed and who failed still before they send anything. ? Just my guess.
  9. I have 57.21. I figure that I will be right on the cusp of whether I get into the program or not.
  10. Anyone else out there? Happy to have gotten my petition to Nursing Skills this past week. Excited and nervous!
  11. Thanks again for your feedback. You are so encouraging and kind. I really appreciate it. GOOD LUCK with the rest of the program!! I am so jealous!!
  12. I'm just now seeing your reply....thank you so much for it! ....And thank you for the pointers on what I can do! I actually am working on my pre-req's for the Tech online RN to BSN program now. All I've got left is statistics, which I will take in the fall. Which part of the nursing program are you in? ....By that I mean CEC or where? How do you find the instructors. Just trying to overcome my fears with this question or at least get info to prepare myself. I've heard some horror stories about how they can be pretty mean and hideous to nursing students.
  13. Thanks so much for your reply! Let me ask you something.......With the big wait we're having to get in right now, I'd like to do anything I can to at least get familiar with things beforehand. I realize that that's not entirely realistic but I still want to try. My brother.....who is an RN and about to graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program.....mentioned that there are some videos on Youtube on things that might help a bit........for example.....things like head to toe assessments, etc. Do you have any suggestions along those lines? I feel like I need to do things on my own.....not only to try and prepare a bit......but to make sure I don't lose anything I've learned either.
  14. Well, you guys are almost at the end of your first semester! If you see this reply, I was hoping to get your insight. Do you love it? Do you hate it?
