Several had mentioned starting a study thread early so we could get prepared for our fall A&P class, so here goes. I have gathered several websites from both here and on my own, so wanted to post them early on so that we wouldn't have to search for them. Please feel free to add to them and also any advice or study tactics that seem to work for you.
Thankyou to Eveyone here at AllNurses who have provided so much information in one spot.

Ok, that's it for tonight....I have several others but hopefully this will keep everyone busy for a day or 2 :chuckle:yeah:I'm sure we all have diferent study habits and will need to find our own way there but I am hoping we can work together as a study team.
Maybe each day or two, someone could provide a study tip or an mneumonics for memorization for tissues or nerves, anything that is helping you learn. Or if you come accross somethin that you can't use, maybe someone else can.
OFF to Bed for me
PoshGirl......this is my Prof and she wrote the book.....3rd edition....she has several more out there.....we are getting a new A&P book to go w/it....plus a tutorial site for free when purchased from the school store....I am with you on fin aide....however I can't use my pell grant until the first day of classes....so I will get my book the day before....ugh!

Plus it contains pics from here http://www.primalpictures.com/ the site we were interested in.
This is what it says:
Also available
PowerAnatomy, An Online Laboratory Manual
Connie Allen, Valeria Harper, Susan Baxley
ISBN: 0-471-44558-4
PowerAnatomy combines over 100 of Primal's exquisitely detailed, 3D models of the human body, along with text, exercises, and review materials.
Kind of exciting but scary at the same time.
I'm not sure if I mentioned this but the book my professor told me we are using has received terrible reviews on amazon.com. I am not so much looking foward to that book.
Anywho, those that have a good grasp on the basics (external terms, cavities, planes, ect0 where did you go next? I haven't gotten my book yet. Did you go to "chemistry of life" or straight to cells or tissue or something else?

Which book is it?

After I finished the terms, cavities and planes, I moved on to the Cell.
I found out that during our first term we will cover axial bones, the cell, anatomical orientation, tissues, bones and skeletal tissues, joints, muscles and muscle tissue, and the nervous system. This seems like a ton of stuff.
My school has a 3 term A&p series, anyone else into this for a whole year?
My bookstore finally got the bio books in. I went today to see exactly what we need for A&P since the website just says "Custom Pkg." Well, it turns out they are still using the Marieb book, which is a huge relief except...
They are bundling it new with the custom lab manual that we are required to have for class. There is no other way to get the lab manual. So we have no choice but to buy everything brand new. $263.25 for the whole package. It also includes some kind of software, I think it's this one. There is also another spiral bound book that is sandwhiched between the textbook and the lab manual in the package so you can't see what it is.
We have to get the book by Saladin Anatomy & Physiology unity form Fourth Edition they sale it at the school store for $136 used thats if they have it and $175 new
Went online looking for it all I could find is the International edition not US edition. Who wants that? Finally I found the book for $75 w/shipping on Ebay, maybe you girls should try looking for your books there.
If you send an e-mail to the school book store they will give you the ISBN if you ask for it, I just told them that I wanted to make sure I got the right one, because this is only the way they will give you the ISBN.
This way when you look for it online you can know if you got the right book. I know I'm bad, but you have to save money somehow.
Good Luck to all!

I ordered the QuickStudy Atlas of Human Anatomy from Amazon. These are the people that make the BarCharts. It arrived today and now I feel really overwhelmed. The teacher I have in fall doesn't have any old syllabi on his website so I'm also a little lost, too. The college also just switched to a new custom book by an author that doesn't even show up on Amazon, I think it may actually be written by one of the profs. It's $263 with no used option! I won't even be able to get that until I get my financial aid, which is 10 days before the semester starts. It's not on reserve at the library either. That's really going to limit how well I can prepare in advance.
I found an old syllabus on another instructor's web page. Hopefully it will follow the same general order. So I guess I will start with skin...
