I recently had to do a dressing change that was made of honey, I thought that was so cool, I realize that nature gives us so much.:redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe

I will have to try this one is it the juice or cider? Did it work

The hubs insisted it should be organic, unfiltered juice...not cider. I googled a bit about it, and most sites also insist on unfiltered juice. Something in the pulp, I think.

Did it work? Kinda. Half a gallon down today (cheated because I ate dinner :o). Output not as expected, with continued bloating on the left side. So, ascending and transverse is clear?

Good god, am I really admitting this?! :lol2:

Teas are my best friends. I have so many types of teas its not even funny.

Camomile and peppermint- I use when I can't go.

Earl Grey- when I am stressed out. I don't think it does anything but it sure is tasty.

ginger tea-when I have a cold.

I just go to the natural food store and they have like sleep aid, blah blah blah, and I use them. :D

The used tea bags I also use when I have bug bites or when my skin is irritated.

The power of ordinary salt and hot water as a gargle or a soak has always amazed me.

just bee-careful (sorry couldn't resist) Non medical honey can contain botulism spores. An infant at children's hospital PICU came in with a strange illness, required intubation, someone thought to test her/him for botulism. Turns out younger sister decided she liked honey so much she would give her sibling a little treat! On interview of the family, no one was aware of this. Kudo's to the resident who gently interviewed the little one and found out what happened.

(infant in question recovered fully)

Yeah we wanna know more about your poop! It's interesting that the apple juice is considered a laxative when years ago we put babies with diarrhea on "constipating solids" rice, banana and apple juice. At least I think we did, because I just googled it and there were no results which means either that yes (my name), you really are just that ancient, or I'm imagining things. Perhaps both.

You're referring to the BRAT diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast.

I didn't even think about the contradiction until you brought it up. There's even a question about this very thing on yahoo answers.

The whole world is confuuuuuused.

Before I was a nurse, I was an herbalist.

Anyone who thinks herbs don't work is just uninformed. My own personal favorite herbal remedy is raw garlic.

Now, don't get me started on homeopathy. Herbalism and homeopathy are NOT the same thing!

Anyone remember gentian violet? My daughter got an infection on her scalp when she was little, all the stuff the Dr. prescribed, pills, creams, did nothing for it. Someone told me to put gentian violet on it, and it turned her hair purple, but it absolutely healed the infection.

And Lucky, I'm sure you do know that getting lice doesn't equal trashy...my little guy has picked them up twice this year from I-don't-know-where.

Lactation consultants regularly recommend gentian violet for nipple/mouth thrush in the breastfeeding pair.

Gentian violet is not a natural remedy, though. It's a chemical compound, very much made in a lab (its chemical name is Methyl Violet 10B, hexamethyl pararosaniline chloride).

I wonder if the gentian violet would do anything for a lady partsl yeast infection.

so true! i've lost track of how many times a glass of wine or a cup of coffee was going to alternately kill me or extend my life . . . but it doesn't matter in my case because my fate was sealed when i wantonly drank diet soda with :eek:cyclamates:eek: in it!!! if i survive that it will be mercury poisoning that will get me because my mom put mercurochrome on my minor cuts with reckless abandon. . . (i always liked that orangey-red color)

klone, um, I have a question?

*ahem*

Where do you put it?

Hey, thanks :) I've got a sensitivity to sodium laurel sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate- in almost every standard shampoo.... I use the medicated stuff with some results, but will have to try the aspirin :)
