Am I going into the right profession or should I just

Nurses Humor

Published

I already am a multi millionaire from being lucky in the casino but i'm getting tired of gambling and don't want to lose my millions. I am looking into nursing...

Specializes in ED RN, PEDS RN, IV NURSE.

I can't tell if this is a serious question OP.

So I will treat it as such.

Nursing is not and should never be a "fall back" job. You are dealing with people and their lives. It is not something you do because "there is nothing else", It is not something you do, "just because". Nursing requires a love and a passion. Otherwise you and your patients will be miserable. And it's certainly not something you do for fear of "losing your millions"....I suggest you invest.

I couldn't tell if this was serious either!!!

If you don't want to lose your millions, my advice is: stop gambling!

As for nursing, it's hard work, not a hobby. Take up cat whispering.

Specializes in PCCN.

I would be afraid of that one patient suing me and getting my millions. At least if I get sued now, they can't get blood out of a stone( I'm poor, lol?), well other than insurance.

This is a high liability profession, especially since we are all being made to work in crappy conditions- short staffing is the norm, patients are unreasonable and obnoxious due to the me me me and hotel mentality. You will have patients who feel that their pillow being fluffed right now is more important than you performing CPR on your coding patient. etc.

From your other posts, you do sound motivated. I would suggest volunteering for a short time, to immerse yourself without committing yourself. And as you noted in your other post, cnas do some work, but a lot of times there are no cnas, or they aren't available. You will have to do CNA work. If you do decide to go to school, you might want to be an patient care tech( doesn't require certification like cna)

If you actually want to stay in the field after being a tech, then maybe you are cut out for it.

I personally would not choose this job ,and would reinvest my money to live off of that. My great aunt did that.

Specializes in Neurosciences, stepdown, acute rehab, LTC.

I deem this question a joke.

Specializes in Med-Surg, NICU.

If I had millions, I would LEAVE nursing, lol.

Or at least my current gig.

If you are a multi-millionaire looking for substance beyond gambling as a profession, my advice would be to seek advice on how to overcome an addiction. Nursing doesn't give one an adrenaline rush like gambling does. There is little gratification money wise, and some would say equally little gratification in the "customer service" culture of nursing today.

If you are looking for value beyond money in your life, volunteer. Be a mentor. Go to school and get a degree in finance, and teach it. Use some of your money and start scholarship program. Lots of things you can do. Get involved in boards/committees that interest you.

To make a living and be successful in gambling, one must have a strategic mind that thinks in an alternate way. Use that part of what makes you successful to do good with it.

And I am not sure that nursing is the place to make that happen.

I was already a space explorer, marine biologist and had a four-car garage full of that wine that comes in a box when I decided to go to nursing school. I have never regretted it, although I do miss communicating with whales in their own language.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Dialysis.

I am reading the edited version here and don't even really see a question. If your intent was to ask if you should go into nursing just for something to do with your life please reconsider. There are plenty of positive things you can do with your life that don't require working in such a difficult field.

If however you have always had an interest in nursing and now have the financial means to make a long held desire a reality go ahead and do it. Just be aware that if you become a nurse and tell your overworked and underpaid co-workers that you are a multimillionaire only doing this for the fun that you will not be popular on your floor.

Specializes in med-surg, IMC, school nursing, NICU.

I'm... uh... well...

I've got nothing. I don't think this person is for real.

On a slightly unrelated topic... this has inspired me to post a new topic! Stay tuned!

Lol am I the only one that noticed that this was posted under the category "nurse humor/jokes"?
