Already only generic name of all drugs?

Posted

I heard NCLEX announced they will give us only generic name of drugs on the exam. However some people say they had still brand name on the exam few months ago. I will take NCLEX next month. Will they show only generic name of all drugs? If so, I am sad... fell unlucky...

I have heard this would be happening but I am not sure when. Was it recently officially announced that they would only provide generic names? Have you tried looking on the NCSBN website, specifically, at the NCLEX test plan?

A classmate of mine called and asked about this and received an answer...but this was months ago. You might try to call and ask this question to see what will be on your test next month.

I took the NCLEX on Monday and noticed that. No brand names from what I could remember. Stay positive!

I took it yesterday and yes there are ONLY generic drug names on this exam.

I had only generic drugs and took mine Monday

I took mine yesterday and yes I had only generic names for meds except for one question. The answers were very trick because 2 stated the brand name of the drug while the other 2 stated "this medication". Unfortunately, for me, I had no idea what the med was anyway, lol. I truly never heard of it. The test was much harder than I anticipated! It shut off around 150 questions and just my luck the PVT is now dead. I was in the parking lot panicking because I was receiving no pop-ups and not seeing a "delivery sent" status. Grrrrrr! I took mIne on Tuesday at 4pm (6 years after graduTing school - long story) so hopefully tomorrow I can get the results. I'm so nervous! But, yeah, anyway, good luck to you and yes only generic names! You can do it girl! Remember your formulas as well, I.e., wants/have and how to change drip factors. It's not all pharm though. As long as your know the classification of the drugs you can work your way through the answers and pick the right one!

When I took the Kaplan review, the teacher warned us and when she went over the review questions, she only used generics. I took the NCLEX on Aug 7th and all my meds had only the generic names. Knowing the classifications of the meds and the endings will definitely help you. Good Luck!

I took it August 12th and only got GENERIC. No trade names.

My friend took it last week and said it was generics only.

May I ask how many of you guys had a lot of pharm questions?

I had 2, and no calculations. I have talked to ten of my classmates and their experience was the same with in 3 questions.

Thank you everyone!! .....Finally NCSBN changed about that..... brand name has helped me to guess what kind medicine it is.... I feel depressed.... but it can't help it....

Haven't you (all of you) been learning medications by the generic names all along?

Why would this be a big deal?

I took my exam on Tuesday snd only had generic names.

Well not to be snarky but you should have a good grasp on generics anyway, second I didn't get anything crazy, you'd have be pretty terrible at pharm to not know what the drugs were on my test.
