Hey everyone. I'm applying for a critical care slot for FY 2018 and was wondering if there is anyone else going through the application process?
Hi! I just began the process of applying for the Air Force Nurse Corps. I am currently in the Army Nurse Corps on the reserve side and was under the impression that I will need to go through MEPS again since it has been 2 years since my last visit to MEPS. My recruiter told me that there are new guidelines and that I will simply need to have a DA 3349 Form completed stating that I am "worldwide qualified" in place of going through MEPS. I asked him who would complete this form and he really didn't know. He said I was the first applicant to have this option. After looking at the form, I realized it is the Physical Profile form. I have never had any condition requiring a profile and I'm not sure this form will help me avoid MEPS. Does this sound a little fishy to anyone else? Has anyone else been given this option, and if so who do we have fill it out. Thanks
Why would you be interested in the military if deployments are a concern? It is a realistic expectation that any nurse in the Air Force will be deployed 25% of the time, depending on world events.
OR, ER, and ICU deploy most. I think NICU might be your best bet to avoid deployments, but I don't think anyone is really safe. You're generally on a 6 months on and 18 months off schedule. You should avoid the military if deployments are a bad thing to you.

I am in the same boat as you are. I have been selected for ER, but I have not received an assignment or a date for COT. I have not heard anything about a bonus. Last I was told, only OR is receiving bonuses, but things might have changed.
