Air Force nursing FQ FY 2018

Published

Hey everyone. I'm applying for a critical care slot for FY 2018 and was wondering if there is anyone else going through the application process?

I did receive my duty station right away, surprisingly! Critical Care going to Travis in February.

Congrats to you as well RNKipster. I'm just anxious to know what my duty station is. Did you just find out your duty station? Or did you know right away?

My recruiter notified me about boards last Friday, this week he texted me about COT dates and station. COT in Maryland. Got time to prepare

I found out last weekend COT for me is August 4. But still no duty station lol. Ugh! Did you say COT in Maryland? I'm confused. I thought it was at Maxwell?

Congrats FannyLi!way to go!

Sorry, yes COT in Alabama Aug 3, then Whiteman AFB thereafter.

I thought for a second there was a new location lol.

FannyLi I'm so jealous you have all of your info already lol. I'm trying not to drive myself insane waiting haha

I know it's hard, but at least you know you are in! Congrats to everyone, really. This is a big deal! I really, in all honestly, was expecting COT in August and PCSing after. We are dual mil. I'm so glad I was prepared for this and made myself available in January. So excited!

Morning. I'm a little late on the discussion here. Glad to have found this! Congrats to everyone who have been selected!

I am going in as a Reservist. I am a step-down/tele nurse but will be going in as a 46N3. My recruiter just mentioned that I was selected. I have no military experience but excited to learn and absorb all the challenges/opportunities military life with bring.

Just curious if anyone has (major/minor) tips on what to expect on the contract signing? I am aware that a Reservist participates a minimum of one weekend per month and two weeks once per year (total of six years plus two years of inactive status). Does GI Bill have to be included on the contract? Also, when I attended MEPS, the facilitator kept emphasizing to ask the recruiter about sign-on bonuses. Is this something I need to ask the recruiter or is this something the recruiter will willingly mention? (I am definitely not in it for the bonus, but If I decide to go back to school, it will help for sure.)

Thank you everyone in advance! Appreciate it!

My recruiter said a lot of bonuses were dropped. He said they had a bonus for AD nurses 20000 for a 5 year contract of AD. There are other bonuses once you are in but you have to meet qualification. I'm not sure if they offer reservist bonuses. I would ask your recruiter. My recruiter did not mention anything about bonuses until i was selected.

Finally got my duty station. Anyone else going to Langley?! COT is August for me :)
