Ages of male nursing students?

Published

Of the 23 other students comprising the group that I entered nursing school with, three of them are men. The class that is graduating at the end of next week I believe has 1 male student, and as far as I know the class immediately behind mine has 1 as well. This is about 60 students (some classes have had students drop), with 6 of them being males; that's only 1 in 10.

So we know that male nurses are few and far between, but how old are we?

The 1 student in the class graduating next week is 28.

The 1 student in the class that entered the semester after mine is at least 30 (a second career-er I believe).

Of the 4 in my class, 2 are about 45, 1 is 40, and then there is me...21.

How old are you guys? How old when you started school?

Just curious.

im 35 starting 2nd semester of ADN program in sept....you younger guys are lucky to have made a career decision earlier in life but better late than never for everyone....good luck to all

32 here! I am scheduled to start my ADN program in September. I've worked at several fortune 500 companies, holding management positions - I am over corporate America and want to work on a little bit more challenging yet rewarding career as a nurse. I'll be the 2nd nurse in my family. My mom became a nurse when I was just 6!

Good luck guys!

I turned 25 in June and will start a Second Degree Accelerated BSN program in August!

45 here, time for a change in careers. Wanted to go into nursing after high school, but back then it's not what a guy did. I kick myself now but I am very excited to be heading to were I always wanted to go.

I'm 29 now, and starting this fall. Someone asked the other day why I was starting "so late", Told them I took a wrong turn and ended up in the Persian gulf. :D.

Actually just graduated my 4 year degree program and am 21.

in my program there are only two guys. we are both in or early twenties...

I am 29 but will be 30 when I graduate this semester. There are alot of males in my class because it is a paramedic/LPN bridge. There are some young twenties all the way to mid fifties.
