Ages of male nursing students?

Published

Of the 23 other students comprising the group that I entered nursing school with, three of them are men. The class that is graduating at the end of next week I believe has 1 male student, and as far as I know the class immediately behind mine has 1 as well. This is about 60 students (some classes have had students drop), with 6 of them being males; that's only 1 in 10.

So we know that male nurses are few and far between, but how old are we?

The 1 student in the class graduating next week is 28.

The 1 student in the class that entered the semester after mine is at least 30 (a second career-er I believe).

Of the 4 in my class, 2 are about 45, 1 is 40, and then there is me...21.

How old are you guys? How old when you started school?

Just curious.

25, graduate this December w/ ADN-BSN program....we got this lady who is freaking 60 years old in one of my classes, insane

I'm 20 y/o. 3rd semester through diploma program. Almost there!

32, hoping to start one year 2nd degree BSN Acc. in May. Can't wait to start!! Nice to hear from others on here. Its really cool!!

I applied and was accepted into the nursing school program (through a hospital) last year at the age of 42. I will be 45 when I graduate. I left a computer career of 10 years, after a permanent layoff a few years ago. It took me some time to figure out which direction I wanted to go, but this has really seemed to be a good fit for me (I have had some past experience with home health care and social work, which should help me with future encounters in the new profession).

Im in Minnesota. I'm 20 years old. Male..I just done with my CNA course..im almost done with my pres Req

I just turned 35 and I'm in my 2nd year of school. There are two other guys in my class and I'm guessing one about my age and the other about 30. Prior to this I worked in the real estate industry and we all know where that went.

Started my ADN program right out of high school at the age of 19. I already had a lot of prereqs done from doing college in high school though (thank goodness). I graduate in 2012! :)

Wow, i'm trying to do what you did. Did you go straight into the program or did you do a year of prereqs first, becuase that's what I'm doing. I'll be 18 going on 19 if I start Nursing School next fall 2011, which I hope and plan to.

I am in a Microbiology class that is geared toward the local community colleges nursing program, and there were 5 guys in the class, now 4.

One is in his 40's, two are in there mid 20's, and I am 29 years old.

I'm 21 male and I graduate this November. Its my first career. Can't wait!!!
