I'm thinking of doing a nursing accelerated program and during the summer I will have to take:
Would you do it? Or is it just too much? It will be all summer so roughly 3 months.
Thanks for your advice and suggestions ahead of time! :)

I'm in a similar boat. My RN program runs seven straight quarters, including summers (which are 3 weeks shorter than the fall, winter and spring). Despite that, we have to take 12 credits this summer - no choice in the matter. It's going to be hellish, but I figure that if other folks can do it, so can I. I'll be super busy, but sometimes the momentum takes over and everything works out. It will be over with that much faster, too.
Good luck to you!

Firstly, I do believe that the course would not be offered to anyone if it was thought to be impossible therefore I would think about it with an open mind. Realistically however, it depends on how you study. Some people excel at the practical side of nursing but may struggle a little bit more with the study side and vice versa. If you do struggle ( and I am not trying to offend you or saying that you do struggle) maybe it would be better to do it over a longer period of time. Apart from that, you must take other responsibilites into consideration and decide if you do have the entire three months to focus on nursing alone, if you don't, this could make things difficult. However, if you feel you are capable, have the time and motivation to do it, why not give it a go :) afterall, if you dont do it, you'll always wonder why you didn't! :) :) best of luck

[color=#2f4f4f]i am in the same dilemma as you. i am debating on if it is smart for me to go ahead next semester and do med surg i and ii in 8 weeks, rather than 15...sounds insane, considering it will be clinical as well for both. i am sure i am going to do it, but man i am so nervous about how it may turn out! good luck with whatever you choose! :)

That sounds like how I'll be spending my summer . I wasn't planning on starting until Fall, but I was given this option and after thinking about it I decided to go for it. I don't know if you're taking classes right now, but I am, so my momentum is already going. If I didn't do anything this summer I'd probably be sitting around twiddling my thumbs, thinking about time wasted. I have two lab classes that run all summer, and the other three classes are for the first summer session. I agree that if it really wasn't possible, the regimen wouldn't be offered. Good luck to you!

That's 12 credits. In my BSN program, I took between 14-20 credits per semester for 8 semesters. 12 credits is definitely doable.

Do you work? Do you have little ones that will be clamoring for your attention all summer? If you don't then GO FOR IT!! I have three children and for me summer sessions were pure torture.
