A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Class was good this morning. We went over the bones of the skull and their markings. This doesnt seem as bad as I had anticipated. He went over them in lecture and then when we got to lab he went over them again. We each got a skull to look at and by mid way through lab I pretty much knew the bones and markings. I think it has a lot to do with his teaching technique's. He is really a great professor. I did find out today for sure that he is most definitely teaching A&P 2 this summer so I will be able to take him for that. Thursday we will finish up the axial skeleton and probably move in to the appendicular skeleton. Can I just say that I LOVE this class! My favorite by far.

Are you guys going more in depth than the basic skeletal bones and bone markings? I think there are like 100 memorizations that I have to do besides just the skeletal bones and basic bone markings. :o

I've got both of my labs read this morning though, so from here on out it's just going to be lots of looking at all my little pictures in my lab book. I'm just going to be reviewing non stop until the midterm. Watch, with my luck I'll do all this studying, and there will only be like 5 questions and they will be basic cranial bones. :rotfl:

PhoenixGirl: I'm not sure how in depth we will be going. We just went over the names of the axial skeleton today, not really any markings on them. Thank God I already know the names. Now, I just need to practice identifying them when the are NOT hooked together. lol We found out the markings will be on the 2nd exam, not the 1st like I said on an earlier post. WHEWWWWW! lol

BoonersMom: Way to go!! We found out today our 1st practical is on the 24th, and the 1st lecture test is 24th through the 28th. (Finally, I'll know where I stand at the end of this month!!)

Nurse2be2007: I need to ask my instructor if he'll be teaching A&P2 in the summer. I'd definately want to take his class. I can understand him! lol

Thanks so much for your valuable post. A friend loaned me her A&P book, which she borrowed from someone. Needless to say the interactive CD was not in book. I found it though on one of your links. I am so excited, now I know this will definetly aid me in getting that A. :rotfl:

Good luck, Nurseinmaking! :)

I just had my first test today. We had 75 questions, but he didn't ask a single thing about tissues or anatomical landmarks so I am guessing we are having that on our lab test next week :uhoh3: We just did the axial today in lab an Oh my God! There is SO MUCH stuff in there. I also have a psychology test the day before the lab test :uhoh3:

Anyway, I don't tkink it was too bad and will find out the results on Friday, hopefully. I'll be OK with a C since I heard that in 35 years he has been teaching, he gave only 3 As so...

Good luck everyone and wish me luck, because I'll need it!

No kidding! The axial skeleton had me wigging out too. We are using ADAM interactive tutorial for my class (which is online) and I have to say, after reading the chapters I just sat there the other night looking at the pics in my lab book for like 3 hours. I looked at it again a bit yesterday. Now today I am doing the interactive tutorial and I am getting a lot of these right! I'm still having problems with all these holes in the head though, lol, they are so close together and the same size, uh, how the heck do I memorize them?!

It's actually easy enough to memorize from the book, but in my interactive tutorial we are looking at actual human skeletons, and I have to use this "pin needle" type thing to figure out which hole I'm looking at. The pics are not as clear, that is the only thing that gets me! SOmetimes I cannot TELL what the darn picture is pointing to!

Anyway, keep reading your axial skeleton and I can pretty much tell you you will find them in your memory within a few days.

Good luck!

Way to go, and good luck on the exam!

I'm not sure about our lecture test, but our 1st lab practical is at the end of this month.

Is yours covering markings of the skeleton?

Lecture exam is over Martini's first four lessons (intro, chemical, cellular, tissue levels of organization. Lab exam is from Marieb's book: exercise 1,2,4,5,6 (same topics). We won't have questions about microscope, but we have to be able to draw cells, tissues and the cell cycle.

Katie

Draw?! Whew! I don't envy you. I'm so glad mine is multiple choice on a computer.

I'm not sure if this page is included on any of the other links provided, but here is a good site on bones, and bone markings.

http://www.bio.psu.edu/faculty/strauss/anatomy/skel/skeletal.htm

Quiz yourself, and then click on the answer link on the bottom of each page to see how well you've done.

Good luck! :)

This is a great link. I just came out of my first A&P lab exam and it covered all the bones in the body, both the axial and appendicular skeleton. I wish I had seen this website yesterday *sigh*, but Marieb is pretty good.

I found it easiest to remember all the bones when I read the chapter and understood what each bone does, what it articulates with and why it's called what it's called.

If anyone had told me i would ever know the names of all these bones, foramina and all that i would have laughed them out of the room, but here i am!

Good luck to all

lol....well, I hope you did well on the exam. Do you know your grade yet?

Good luck with the rest of the class.
