Yeah for me!!!
I got over 100% on the first lecture exam!!!! I only missed a few and he gave extra points so I ended up with 119/115!!!
I have the next one this Tuesday! and the big Histology lab exam Thursday--hope I can keep it up!
Most people failed the 1st test and they all looked at me like I was a genius or something--made me feel pretty good!!!

Doesnt it feel great when you get that test back. I know that is how I felt, that all my hard work and long hours of studying have paid off! Good luck on your upcoming Histology lab exam and your next lecture exam!

I feel like a nerd talking to some girls in class, no one seems to be studying as much as I am I hope it pays off.

LOL I feel the same way!

I usually start studying after my girls are off to school...sometimes by 7:30, and other times I have to get motivated, housework, etc. So, at least by 9 AM. I study ALL day, taking short breaks in between. If I fail this first test, there is NO doing better next time. I really can't study more than I already am. My brain would start smoking from being overworked!! :rotfl:

COngrats!!!!!!!!!!!! That's awesome!

My first lab practical is tommorrow. I am pretty sure I am 100% ready. It's a Histolgy practical and I have looked at enough slides now to know which is which even with bad slides.

Our first lecture exam is next week...it's going to cover the cell, histology, and the integumetary system in one. We haven't even startred integumetary but she's going to cram it all into 2 days I suppose.

Hopefully your instructor won't go into detail about the skin. lol

Start learning the layers now! Remember the epidermis in thick skin:

Basile spices granny lucy's corn.

If there is a hair in the corn, granny won't put her name on it (Thin/hairy skin):

Basile spices granny's corn.

STRATUM: BASALE, GRANULOSUM, SPINOSUM, LUCIDUM, CORNEUM.

F2C, just wanted to tell you that your notes are great! Keep em coming. We are taking 3 weeks to do the skeletal system (we are doing a bunch of labs, basically). Remember, I'm in an online class so our format is probably different then for you all, and I started like a week or two earlier.

Just wanted to let you know I'm putting your notes to great use. Thanks. I am taking notes already, but you are phrasing things in a simple, complete way that will really reinforce this.

How much have you done on the skeletal system in your class? I am just overwhelmed at all the memorization of the cranial terms, appendicular, etc. There is so much! I am familiar with just naming the terms on a skeleton, but when I get to the deeper level, all the bone markings (which I actually have memorized) it's just so much. And I know that there will be some of this on our midterm, but I have to memorize it all, because even if there are only 20 questions on it, i want to be able to get them right!

How in depth are your memorizations for say, the external anatomy of the skull?

My professor says that the axial is the most complicated or more in depth so we are starting there and working our way down. This is going to be fun though, I hope! LOL

Uh yea, I am doing the axial skeleton tonight. If this is as bad as it gets, I should be okay. But darn, it's in depth! So far I felt like I was flying with this class, and now all the sudden tonight I'm sinking! LOL Help!

For the 1st lap practical and 1st exam, we are covering

1) Intro (directional terms, etc),

2) Tissues (identify, location, function & description)

3) Integument, and

4)Bone tissue (different parts of the bone model or microscopic bone, bone markings' definitions, and what is included with the axial and appendicular skeleton) ...does that make sense? lol

We still have more lecture to do before scheduling the 1st lecture exam, so there's not any telling how much more will be added. :crying2:

I think identifying the actual bones will be on the 2nd lab practical. I'm sure we will have to identify all of the bones, and the markings in depth, but my instructor is easy to follow for the most part. I actually understand what he's talking about when he lectures, so it's easier to remember. :rolleyes:

Are you guys going more in depth than the basic skeletal bones and bone markings? I think there are like 100 memorizations that I have to do besides just the skeletal bones and basic bone markings.

I've got both of my labs read this morning though, so from here on out it's just going to be lots of looking at all my little pictures in my lab book. I'm just going to be reviewing non stop until the midterm. Watch, with my luck I'll do all this studying, and there will only be like 5 questions and they will be basic cranial bones. :rotfl:

Just back from my first lab practical. It was pretty easy. 34 questions and I know for a fact I got 32 of them right. One of the slides was pretty poor so I guessed on that one...pretty sure I got it wrong. Anywho...I got 4 extra credit points to add on to the score so it looks like I came out with a perfect in the end run.

Lab attendance sure has shrunk since day 1. We only have room for 24 students per lab and today there were only 12 of us there. Lecture thinned out as well.

I like my professor but I do have to say one thing. She "lectures" in lab and then when I go to "lecture" it's a complete REPEAT of what I just was listening to for 3 hours. I mean even down to every little detail b/c it's a lecture w/ a lab class that doesn't have lab until Thurs. Today we did the layers of the epidermis/dermis and that's it. So it was a repeat and I almost nodded off. I took the time to write some flashcards. She also gave back our first 2 "lecture" extra credit papers...they were worth 1 pt. each and I got the 1 pt's.
