I went today and put a down payment on my Spring 2009 semester which has A&P 1 (Chem and Dietary Nutrition too) and it got me thinking. For a while now, I have been saving up websites and links about A&P and I thought I could share what I have. Please feel free to add to the list...

If I stole your link, please forgive me - I just put them in my bookmarks and added them to what I have. I hope someone finds these helpful.
I'm taking AP1 online through ccconline. When you log in you see a list of the classes you are registered for, you click on the class you want and it takes you to the course. Everything you need is on the left. Any announcements, lecture notes, rubrics, test due dates, etc will all be found here. The info comes up on the screen on the right, very easy to follow. The teacher usually has the topics for all units posted and locked, s/he will unlock them when that unit is started. You post your comments, etc and often are graded on participation. You submit your work to be graded and they get a grade back to you. You also do your exams online and open book. They usually make the questions harder because of that. Everything you need is always there, its very handy and easy to follow, once you find out where everything actually is.
Here is a sample microbiology course they have on their site.
sand dollar, I went to that link and unfortunately you have to log in to see.
My school uses WebCT also so I know what you're talking about. I'm just scared about doing the 2 summer classes online, I'm just worried that it might be too much, but ya know what, if I can't handle that how will I handle nursing school KWIM? I'm determined to get through them both with A's and I will make it happen and be dedicated to my outcome, even if I'm nervous now.
it is pretty much like sand dollar described. i am taking a&p1 and microbiology online thru new mexico junior college. we have a discussion feature, where you are to make a minimum of 3 discussion posts: one to the initial question, one or more to a classmate about his/her response to the initial question or one to one of several secondary questions.
she also uploads our assignments and labs. both are based on the readings and online slide shows and consist of short answer and multiple choice. well, the labs aren't multiple choice. we complete the word document and then upload it to the website for her to grade.
here was our critical thinking question(s) for the integumentary system:
main topic: structures of the integumentary system
you may choose one of the following:
janet has just returned from the hairdresser with a new, shorter haircut. she states that the new hairstyle has made her hair much thicker. is this possible? why or why not?

six months ago, chef edman sliced through the end of his right thumbnail. although the surrounding nail grows normally, this part of his nail remains split and does not seem to be "healing". what has happened to cause this?
we don't have any quizzes, just the midterm and final. however, if you complete the survey at the end of each unit, you can earn an extra credit point, for a maximum of 8 points, to be applied to your lowest test score at the end of the course.
I don't know if anyone cares but I've got to talk about my test that I took today. Today was our first in class test and it was partially multiple choice and partially essay. Well....I think I did really well on the multiple choice but choked on the essay portion. Uuuggg. ...I'm so bummed out. I think I put in the definition of hypotheses instead of theory, and I couldn't remember all of the Scientific Theory stuff we were supposed to know. I had homeostasis down pretty good though. It was like I looked at the essay page and BANG my mind went blank!! I'm Bummed.
I'm sorry labchic I hate when stuff like that happens. But, you won't know for sure until you get your marks back, so there is always hope. You will have plenty of opportunities to bring your mark back up and you can do it! Don't let one thing get you down, you're smart, you've gotten this far and you can go all the way, don't let one speed bump get you bummed.
Labchic, like Sand Dollar said--you never know until you get your scores. It's so hard taking that first test---it's just as much about learning how the instructor tests/grades as it is about learning the material (which can be quite intense!). Good luck to you and keep your chin up. There will be plenty of time to bring up your score if you aren't happy with it, but here's to hoping you are.
I'm worried about taking AP online- I have no choice but to take AP2 Online this Summer (So that I can finish all pre-req's by the end of summer) I just got a new job at a hospital from 3-11 (My classes right now are all in the mornings..so it worked out great) But then I saw the summer schedule and the only times to take the majority of summer classes is at night or online!
Good luck to us both :icon_roll
