I went today and put a down payment on my Spring 2009 semester which has A&P 1 (Chem and Dietary Nutrition too) and it got me thinking. For a while now, I have been saving up websites and links about A&P and I thought I could share what I have. Please feel free to add to the list...

If I stole your link, please forgive me - I just put them in my bookmarks and added them to what I have. I hope someone finds these helpful.

thanks for the links. i am taking anatomy in an 8 week session and then physiology in an 8 week session this spring. so i am definatly interested in getting a head start so i can hit the ground running when classes get started again on jan 15. thanks again.

xlilchantonx - Thanks, I like to think I'm organized...but then I look at my checkbook. lol

I would hate having to wait for books, I went onto our bookstore, found the titles, then went onto amazon and found the ISBNs. I then searched the web for the cheapest rates, no way was I paying retail! I love the internet! If you do a search for 'Anatomy & Physiology' on quizlet, you can find flashcards that others have put in and use theirs, its very handy. I am putting mine from the publisher site onto quizlet because I like it better. I 'test' myself using 5 at a time matching terms to definitions, progressively using more and more. I then use the one where you have to type it in, it keeps track of the ones you miss and keeps giving them to you over and over until you get it. Its a handy tool.

The games are under 'Anatomy Arcade', you can find the link above... I play 'whack a bone' and learned my major bones that way, lol. I wish they had more though. Thanks too about the encouragement, I hope we all do well. :)

Butterfly135 - you have about the same as me then, I just have them both together as a 16 week class. When I take A&P II it will be covering the rest of my textbook, ugh. I'm trying to get a head start too, I'm working through my Intro to Chem for Bio Students (AP required book) right now so that will be done (hopefully) soon. Then onto the AP coloring book. Not to mention my chemistry for dummies for chem class. AAAAHHH!!! Classes start in 5 weeks, i need more time!! lol!

]You're welcome! lol

You actually have me excited to go check out anatomy stuff and play the games. I'm going to be checking it more in depth over break when I'm done with my current classes.

Oh my college is ridiculous. I forget which date we can start buying our books for next semester BUT our college won't even let us LOOK at the books until that date, so I have no idea yet. I think it's really stupid that we can't check them out at all. But I agree with you, I get the titles and numbers and then go online to see what books I'll be needing. WAAAAAAY better to do that than to pay retail. ]And if I have to buy from the school (if it's a shrink-wrapped book we can't return it) I don't open it or buy it until the first day of class when I find out if I can buy an older edition or not.

Another A&P I Spring '09 person here!

I ended up buying my book at the College Bookstore. There's not much difference in price between them and those online--from what I found, anyway.

Thanks for the links! I just skimmed the lab manual, haven't gotten started on anything else so far.

Hi Sand Dollar,

I have noticed from reading different posts here that there is a lot of variation in the Chemistry classes. But, having said that, here's what we covered in my class (we are on the quarter system).

Significant Figures, Solving Multi Step Conversions, Properties of Protons / Neutrons / Electrons, Ions, Isotopes, Atomic Mass, Chemical Formulas, Nomenclature (naming compounds), Balancing Equations, Naming Acids, Polyatomic Ions, Conversions between Grams and Moles, Grams and Atoms, Mass Percent of Compounds, Electron Configurations (Periodic Trends - Atomic Size, Ionization Energy, Metallic Character), Chemical Bonding, Lewis Structures, Electronegativity and Polarity, Gases, Properties of Liquids and Solids, Intermolecular Forces, Surface tension, Boiling Point, Viscosity, Melting Point, Radioactivity, Nuclear Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.

I know this might be a confusing or daunting list, but hopefully it helps more than scares you :-). I didn't list every single topic, but these were the main ones. Also, there is a book that I found helpful upon the recommendation of the Chemistry Fall Thread called CliffsStudySolver Chemistry. I think it does a great job of giving exercises and breaks the concepts down well.

Also, Mr. Guch has tons of practice sheets which will help you out in electron configurations, naming compounds, polyatomic ions, lewis structures, etc.

Here is the link to that forum...

Oh, and Atomic Woman seems to be a Chem Guru so she's a good one to ask questions..I believe she's taken quite a few Chem classes !

Good Luck to you!

Awesome! Thanks SO much. It doesn't look too bad, but then again maybe I know so little that I should be scared. lol I'm going to head over and check out that chem thread. Thanks again!

I just came across a VERY COOL site for Anatomy. It's http://www.visiblebody.com It is free to sign up. I have been playing with this thing working on my bones for a couple hours already, its very interesting. I think I have the bones in the fingers already down because of it- SWEET!

Funny LillyBug22, I was looking at that today - lol! I had my AP book on its front and looked at the back and it gives a link to the online site. I checked it out said to myself 'this is REALLY cool, I want this' I went to check on the price but the site was down. Then I thought...hmm, didn't someone mention that on the board? I did a search on Amazon and found it too, so I'm gonna pick it up after payday, woot!!

Thanks for posting! I added to my favorites so I can use it this upcoming semester!

Thank you for posting all of these helpful links! I'm sure they will come in handy. My A&P1 class starts Tuesday and I am so excited!!!

Hi! I will be taking A&P 1 the spring semester too. I start on Tuesday. I tried taking it on-line last semester, but the lecture and lab were combined and it was way to difficult. I ended up taking a W. I can't wait to start all over this semester. I know how much more time I will have to put in to it now. I'm excited though because I would prefer to walk away from the class knowing a lot more!

I also wanted to say thank you for the websites!
