I recently obtained my first nursing education job in the hospital setting. This is my dream job and I really want to be successful. I have experience teaching students which I loved. I feel very fortunate to of obtained this position and want to do the best I can. My issue is this unit has not had an educator for a very long time, over 6 months. The director and manager pitched it as it will be alot of work but you can make it your own. I am excited and feel up to the task at hand but, am looking for suggestions or pearls of wisdom from those in this type of position. Also, I am set to do a meet and greet with the staff at the end of the week alone. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed with this? I was thinking just go out on the unit and talk with staff and see what they are wanting in their educator to hopefully meet everyone expectations. Hi, I am 8 months pregnant due at the end of febuary. I just graduated from LPN school and passed NCLEX. This next year I am continuing onto level 2 at my school to become a RN in december. Now, My question is should I start looking for a nursing job now or wait until after the baby is here. I am torn on this because I do not think it would be fair to put an employer in a position where I would be taking maternity leave in about 6 wks, but on the other hand I don't want to wait and have all of the available jobs get taken up by my classmates. Any advice please?

Congratulations! I got the same pop up and I passed! Your test sounds just like mine lots of SATA and priority questions and meds that I had no clue as to what they were!

Besides the Saunders and ATI I read the Kaplan pn test book. It mostly was about breaking down the questions. I think it helped alot. I also read the study guide that was posted earlier on this post. Good luck to you with your test.

I Just found out I have offically passed!! I took mine on Saturday; I got 85 questions. I did the pvt when I got home and got the good pop up. Then checked this morning on the KSBN site and it said passed! woo-hoo! :w00t:

I test on Jan 7th in Kansas. I am EXTREMELY nervous! I have been doing between 100-200 review questions with the saunder cd on study mode and retaking my ATI practice test.

yes, there is more applicants than spots. Last yr when i applied there was over 200 apps and they accept 48. It is very competitive, If you have all of your prereqs completed, and you get over an 85 on the teas test you have a pretty good chance of getting admitted if you have a good GPA. It is a very good school, they are opening there new building in a couple weeks and it is going to be state of the art. If you have any other questions just ask.

I am curious about this as well. I keep reading about how hard it is for new grads to find jobs on these boards. I was curious if it is that bad here in Kansas too. I live in the Lawrence area and recently started nursing school at Neosho county in ottawa. If you haven't already you might check into the school. At Neosho you sit for the LPN boards after your first yr, then you automatically get to go on for you RN or second yr. That away you can gain a little experience while finishing out school. Do they make Grey anatomy scrub's in misses sizes now or are they still just junior sized? I tried a pair on last summer, I loved them but they were junior fit so they didn't fit quite right.

I will be commuting 1hr to my school. Luckily, my dad just retired so he will be coming over to our house to watch my 2 little ones so I don't have to drive them to daycare. I live in kansas so I do expect snow which I am not looking forward to. I don't think I will mind the commute on decent weather days it will be some good alone time.

At our school we take pharm with fundamentals as well. But, They offer an intro to pharm class that I am taking this semester to try and get a leg up on pharm since I have heard it is a very hard class. If taking it now would make things easier for you in the future I would go for it!

I am taking: Intro to pharmacology Intro to Nursing Lecture Intro to nursing lab Dosage calculation My school's nursing program is 5 semesters with the 1st being an intro semester then level 1 for LPN then onto level 2 for RN. The Pharm class starts August 23rd the nursing classes don't start until September 22nd. I am so excited to get started on nursing classes!

I can't wait for classes to start either!! I get to take the beginning nursing classes which are intro to nursing and dosage calc along with intro to pharm. I cannot wait to get started! Good luck to everyone in the coming semester!
