I'll be back home late, but I'll post either tonight or tomorrow after psyc to let ya know how it went having both lab and lecture on the same FIRST day of the rest of my life LOL.
How was it, Brandy? I hope good!! Sorry if I missed it!

What day is it?Yikes! I have to say,if it wasnt for DH picking up the slack...things would crumble:uhoh21:

I am studying at least 4 hours a day/weekdays and all day weekends.

Our grades are based on tests and quizs. We have a lecture quiz once a week,4 lab quizes,3 lab praticals, one lab final,3 lecture exams and one final lecture exam.

We have a lab quiz next week.We have to ID the slide(type, location and function)I cut the color pics out of my martini lab companion and made flashcards.Im having a hard time remembering the connective and muscular tissues.Having no problem with epithelium.

Next week we are doing chapters 5,6 &7 Martini....AHHHH!!!!:stone

One day at a time..

Thank You.

You all just gave me hope. I have been out of school for a while and A&P scares me. We have had alot of casualties and we are just approaching the 4th week of class. Your little hints are GREAT!!! There is hope!!

How is everyone faring? What is the testing schedule for your course? I was a tad disappointed that our tests weren't more regular and often but that just sounds crazy when I typed it there. lol

Luckily, I have the time to study at work. That is a HUGE help. I use up at least four hours a day at work looking at the materials. I would be disappointed if our tests were set very far apart, it doesn't sound crazy to me! I am nervous about learning three chapters worth of material for our test next Thursday, I can't imagine six or seven! Looking at the syllabus -- we have four lecture exams (every three chapters) and four lab exams. The lab exams.

Our first test is next Thursday!!!

Oddly, I'm kinda having fun being a student---even if I can't stay awake past 9PM most weekdays because I'm drained from work, studying and class. :)

How is everyone's teachers? Do they lecture from the book or their own notes? I have been recording my lectures and listening to them. It helps. I tried the anatomy coloring book but I seem to drift off when I'm coloring.

yikes im so nervous...this thursday i am going to have to take exam #1 and lab practical #1 all on the same day!! geez i think its too much...all this information that we need to know is stressin me out. anybody got any suggestions on how to remember tissues? it would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance and good luck everyone! i hope we all make A's this semester even though we have to work our bootys off!

For identifying, look at all the photos you can online by searching for images of the tissues you are needing to learn.

*****Utilize your school's study lab, or open lab times, if offered.

Look at the pictures I have on the "Lab Pics" page of my site.

For function, location & description, look at my quiz called "Tissue Quiz". It is the very last link on the A&P 1 Quizzes page from the "Quizzes" link.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

LOL I just had a great mental picture of you falling asleep in mid-colour at 9:01 P.M.! I am not sure about the prof yet as there has only been one lecture after the inital orientation. The first lecture seemed so easy since I had poured over the reading already .. I started quizzing myself during it when he'd start talking and try to write down what I knew about it (well, within reason lol). My seatmates wondered what the heck I was doing writing so much but, hey! He did give little extra things here and there and just having it explained aloud in a different way HAS to help! This past lecture I honestly don't think i would have done me any good to record it but I really do like that idea!

Happy studying for Thursday!!!

I can already tell your site is going to be a godsend! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and study techniques!!

Our teacher lecture from the book which I really like. He does not give hand outs because for him it will just confuse us more and his style is uncomplicated and simple :) We had our first test last Saturday and the test came from the chapter quizzes on the book, how cool is that? :rotfl: Next test is 2 weeks away with 3 chapters to study.

I've noticed a lot of people say their working out of the Martini book, how are people liking it? We kind of use the book for class. He lectures what he wants and the book is used as a resource, and so far I don't like the book. I guess I really want real pictures. My teacher teaches off of slides with acctual pictures and expects us to beable to reconize things on real pictures, not pictures that are drawn to perfection....

Okay end whiny rant.

Ok I hope I survive and thrive in this class I am pushing for an A had my first two classes of A&P this week. I will start having it 3 days a week. We have a possible total of 800 points 12 Weekly lab quizzes(drop lowest 2) 4 Lecture Exams,3 Lab exams and a final exam. Our first Lecture exam is sept 30th on Bone Tissues. Any tips for me I am ears or eyes lol. Good luck to us all I hope we all get through this with flying colors!

How is everyone faring? I think it will be ok .. right now I'm wading through the chemical chapter and getting myself up to snuff on the chemistry terms. It was too many years ago!! The prof said we can let him know tomorrow if we feel we need a workshop. I think I will be okay without it but if they run it, I will go!

One other observation just about any course in general is that I can't listen TOO much to people's, "Oh that was easy I got an A" or, "Oh that was horribly hard" and just concentrate on my own progress. I think it would be pretty easy to psych onesself out to either extreme!! I'm trying to keep my earplugs in with the naysayers especially! Anyone else feeling like this?
