Congrats and welcome to Allnurses.com, Ernestine! :)

Thanks, that's a good point!! In a way, I guess it does ("Grrrrrrrrr, I'll show them!" LOL). At least if I do do well, I will feel even more of a sense of accomplishment. I am so glad you were able to make a better thing out of your lab partner's attitude!! That's awesome! It sounds like her self esteem is a tad low. Is she doing well also and do you study together outside of lab?

wow sorry kayel! i didnt even see this reply to my message haha. yeah, she's doing pretty well also. i try to help her out as much as i can, but sometimes when i tell her an answer she tries to tell me i'm wrong. i don't like fighting with people i barely even know so i just let her think whatever she wants & eventually she admits that she was wrong. my intention isn't to be mean to her, but everytime i try to tell her something she just keeps insisting & i dont really have time for that haha

well, we've started on muscles & it's HARD!! what's your guys' strategy on making it a little easier.. i mean the physiology part because thats the part that's killing me. i can't seem to concentrate! :uhoh3:

I have a quiz in lab tommorrow on the muscles of the leg and arm, and also the Torso and Muscle/sarcomere model. Wish me luck, I'm pooped!

What helped me with the physiology part is trying to tie it all together. I wrote out "a system" of what opens what "door", what flows through freely, etc, then where it goes and what happens then. (Make sense?) lol

I really don't want to say any names on the fear I'd mess up, it's been a while since I've looked at that. :uhoh3: It was a mind blower, that's for sure!

We tested on the muscle tissue and nerves tissue together....action potentials, etc. It was the hardest exam out of the three we had, I think.

However, if you study hard, you can do well. Good luck! :)

Nursecadet, good luck!!!!!!!!

:) Hi everyone! I am pretty new to this board. I'm taking A&P I and I am starting to really like it. The first test I didn't do so well on (got a 78), but the rest I have got A's on. I really like my teacher because he pretty much tells us what is going to be on the test. He tells us which parts to concentrate on. He also gives us lots of work sheets to study from. I think this thread is a great idea.

Well sounds like you're dealing with it very well! Just keep doing what you're doing.

I am on muscles right now too and I'm not even getting the names into my head at this point. I mean, I am slowly but .....

I woke up with a headache this a.m. so that's not good but hopefully it will go away a.s.a.p. Oh, and we were in the lab yesterday and the prof asked us if he wanted us to mark our papers -- uh, not really but -- I guess he's doing the one-by-one method of marking :coollook: . I did get an A but I waned an A+. Dh thinks I'm crazy. Ah well, it's only 10% so I have lots of room but ... oi, I don't really want to study even more kwim? When do I fit all my other courses in anyway???

Welcome to the board, prinsessa and Ernestine!! I hope you find out lots from the resources posted here and are able to come here often when you need to talk or vent or share whatever!

Good luck on that test, Nursecadet!! I'll be thinking of you!

Oh and for muscles, this site is good for a diversion as well ... http://getbodysmart.com/ap/muscularsystem/menu/menu.html ... it isolates the muscles and shows the surrounding ones, as well as shows a little diagraphm of the actions of that muscle. I haven't made it through the whole thing and I am not sure how much is sinking in but it looks good. I think it's my mood lately! I am glad Halloween is over because that was a bit of a distraction with me with the kids ... hmm but now we head off into Christmas. I am a little frightened at the speed at which the lab exam and "midterm" is coming up.

What does everyone do for a study schedule?

Hey everyone. I am knew here, I am also taking a&p I and is studying the muscles. We have a test on it thursday. My teacher is kind of hard. He did tell us 2 questions that are on the test 1 is draw and label a sacromere and the other is to list the 10 steps of the muscle filament theory. He said he is going to check this 2 questions first and if they are not right then we get a 0. I have talked to previous students and this is true. I am having a real hard time trying to get this theroy down. Does anyone have any ideas.

Thank you

Hello and welcome to AllNurses.com, princessa!

Keep up the good work in A&P! (Does your instructor drop the lowest grade?.....doesn't hurt to ask him/her!)

You are so so lucky to have a good teacher.....I had another test with my psycho professor and his questions mess everyone up!!!!! I can't figure out why he is where he is and why he is allowed to do what he is doing. It's criminal!

Hi and welcome to Allnurses.com! :)

We also had these two questions on the test, and probably these were the easies two on the test. If you write it all down over and over again, label once, label twice, and label over and over again, you will have it down.

Good luck! :)

Keep up the good work in A&P! (Does your instructor drop the lowest grade?.....doesn't hurt to ask him/her!)

He doesn't drop any of the tests. He is very rigid in the way he teaches, but I kind of like it. He will not put anything on the test that he didn't mention in class. I did hear that one girl got a 89.5 in his class and he wouldn't give her an A even though she was only .5 points away. We just got another of our test scores yesterday and I got a 97.5. I was so happy because I was a little worried about that test. It was the one on the bones.
