Ugh, I have a problem and need some advice. My study partner for A&P 1 is not going to continue with school after this semester because her husband doesn't want her to keep going to school, he wants her to go back to work. So, my problem is: she doesn't seem to be very "into" studying when we study for A&P.
She gets off topic when we study and doesn't want to meet as often as we used to. I don't know what to do! I'm really scared about studying alone. This is only my fourth pre-req. class I've taken so far, and the studying with a partner has been great. We've made all A's on all of the lecture tests and lab tests, because we study our fannies off. I just don't know how I'm going to now start studying by myself when I'm so used to studying with her and the way we study. Does that make sense? It's like I'm going to have to switch my whole study style right in the middle of the course.
I keep trying to talk her into continuing with school, but that's pretty hard to do when she has her husband riding her at home about going back to work! What should I do?
Thanks
Hey, what's this warn thing on the bottom of my screen? That's wierd.
I think you could stick with her and just try to keep her on task; remind her how well you are doing the way you were doing the studying before and that you really want to continue that way. She likely is needing a lot of encouragement right now but maybe you could meet separately for a cup of coffee to discuss more about that, kwim? (like keep study time separate from chatting time) Remember to trust yourself too!! It's YOU that got you this far!Ugh, I have a problem and need some advice. HTH! You must be so pleased with your marks so far!! That's awesome!
HUGS
Yea, I've been trying to give her some support. I keep telling her that this time in school will go by fast. Heck, it's been going by like crazy since this class started!
It's just amazing how some husbands will act. I mean, they should give us all the support we need right now. My husband has been awesome! I never have to clean or cook, that's probably why I've gotten such good grades.
I also keep reminding her how things will be so much easier on her once she gets her degree, and doesn't have to work dead end jobs like she had before.
I keep trying to make her think positively. So maybe it will work.
Thanks for the advice, that's a good idea.
Ok, lol, now how do we get people to post in here instead of the other thread? Or since I accidentally made my bed, I suppose I have to lie in it!?!?!!! LOL, likely! Oh well, guess I can handle it. OR should we all jump over to the other thread. hahaha sorry. So what is everyone up to? I am feeling sort of scared about the exam on Wednesday but I have found it almost impossible to shut out people's negative comments and constant talk like "No one passes on the first time through with this professor; he's got REALLY hard test," etc. etc. ARGHHH STOP THE VOICES!! :sofahider
Just let their negative comments be your motivation to study harder! :) In my situation, my "lab partner" is ALWAYS trying to compete with me and she constantly feeds, not just me, but everyone in the class negative comments. At first it bothered me, but then her comments only pushed me harder & I've been getting better grades than her. This is her second time taking the class & when she found out i did better in the first exam & practical, I could tell she wasn't happy. Well, it's true that you can't stop the negative comments, but you can let them push you to do your best instead of let them intimidate you I know you'll do well anyway, it seems like you study hard!
I do have one but haven't been using it all the time, just when I need a change of pace or if I'm not "getting it" ... it's hard to find time to fit everything in! I find it really does help, though! I got mine at Chapters but they sell them at the school bookstore also.has anyone been using a coloring book to study? does it help? were can I pick one up? Thanks!
Thanks, that's a good point!! In a way, I guess it does ("Grrrrrrrrr, I'll show them!" LOL). At least if I do do well, I will feel even more of a sense of accomplishment. I am so glad you were able to make a better thing out of your lab partner's attitude!! That's awesome! It sounds like her self esteem is a tad low. Is she doing well also and do you study together outside of lab?Just let their negative comments be your motivation to study harder!!
need help. I am not doing well at all in lecture . My three test grades are 58,46 & 58 the last test the class average was 65 the first was 59 and the second was 61. On the other hand I have a C average in lab. We have 2 more test in lecture and a final. all five test are 10% of your grade and the final is 20%. our lab grade is 30% of our final grade. I tape the lecture, then later go in and fill in the blanks....you will be amazed how much we don't hear until given the chance to listen to it again.
