Trump is mostly just a mentally ill and very old narcissist who is an authoritarian by nature. We saw in his first administration that he didn't really understand or appreciate the democratic processes developed over the years, and he didn't really have a plan to change our republic in 2016. He had a concept of a plan. He was mostly just crazy arrogant. The fascists helped him out with that plan deficit, but he's still crazy.
Now that the actual fascists have given Trump an actual plan and they've gotten Trump reelected so that they can execute that plan, which does fundamentally change our republic into an authoritarian dictatorship. Trump's mental illness is now more advanced, his cognitive decline is more obvious, and the consolidation of power onto his plate in 6 months time has been impressive. The authors may want to parse words about whether Trump as an individual is a fascist. Meh. Make no mistakes, fascists are in control of Trump's presidency and Trump is on the decline. He will be pushed aside when the younger fascists believe that he and his cult are no longer manageable or beneficial.
The growing suspicion that Trump was a co-conspirator with Epstein and Maxwell is pretty unsettling for millions of people. It's quite a coincidence that while Jeff and 'Lanie were trafficking teen girls, their good friend Don owned resorts, spas, teen beauty pageants, and a modeling agency that employed and attracted lots and lots of pretty young girls. This might be the perfect reason for the "hero" fascists to throw the sex trafficking old rapist felon to the wolves that he teased during the campaign. They can claim to be champions for the victims while they take power from Trump because of his Epstein escapades.
Trump's fascism is a limited by his mental illness as it is enhanced by it.
Well said, TMB. Trump thinks he's in charge, but notice when he's signing executive orders, they have to tell him what he's signing.
The Federalist Society, Stephen Miller and Russ Vought are calling the shots. They feed a few sounds bites to President CrazyPants, while they hack away at our country.
Our president cannot complete a coherent sentence, let alone string 2 together.

QuoteDonald Trump's frequently bizarre public appearances, which this month have seen the president claim, wrongly, that his uncle knew the Unabomber and rant unprompted about windmills on his recent trip to the UK, have once again raised questions about his mental acuity, experts say.
For more than a year Trump, 79, has exhibited odd behavior at campaign events, in interviews, in his spontaneous remarks and at press conferences. The president repeatedly drifts off topic, including during a cabinet meeting this month when he spent 15 minutes talking about decorating, and appears to misremember simple facts about his government and his life.
QuoteA high-profile example came in mid-July, when Trump claimed his uncle, the late professor John Trump, had taught Ted Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, at MIT.
Trump recalled: "I said: 'What kind of a student was he, Uncle John? Dr John Trump.’ I said: 'What kind of a student?’ And then he said: 'Seriously, good.’ He said: 'He'd correct – he'd go around correcting everybody.’ But it didn't work out too well for him.”
The problem is: that cannot possibly be true. First, Trump's uncle died in 1985, and Kaczynski was only publicly identified as the Unabomber in 1996. Second, Kaczynski did not study at MIT.
"The story makes no sense whatsoever, but it's told in a very warm, reflective way, as if he's remembering it,” Segal said. "This level of thinking really has been deteriorating.”
And he cheats at golf.

I'd support him resigning and Vance taking over. What say you?
Vance will be in charge soon enough. The younger fascists may use the growing realization that Trump was a co-conspirator in the Epstein sex trafficking business to cast him aside while they claim to be champions of the oppressed (or similar). Trump's voting base may accept that. At this rate of decline Trump isn't going to last a full term regardless of the excuse used to replace him.

I would like to see him leave office, but I doubt he will resign. The 25th amendment could be invoked, but I don't see his loyal toadies doing that, because they are free to run amok. I honestly don't think he will leave office until he dies.
Of course, if Trump leaves office before the end of his term and the law is followed, Vance would assume office, but lately, the law seems rather fluid. I am not a fan of Vance and am concerned by the influence of his backers like Peter Thiel.

That's the "go to" with some people: he won the popular vote and won the election. So obviously despite fear mongering about a "fascist regime" he became President. That is continually thrown in our face.
But it was close. Almost half of voters considered him a fascist and just because he won the popular vote and the election does't mean they didn't think so.

People can make all kinds of claims and comparisons about whether or not we are in a fascist regime or that he's leading us towards one. I think that might be a fair discussion without the left fear mongering things that won't happen or the right saying "well he won the election and the popular vote and this is what people want". Somewhere in the murk there might be something to see.
