Transformation to Make America Healthy Again is Trump Admin goal

However...... they are cutting 20,000 positions across HHS

HHS carries out mass firings across health agencies after Supreme Court decision

Quote

Thousands of employees across US federal health agencies received an email Monday afternoon telling them they were out of a job as of the close of business.

The firings were originally communicated April 1 for most of the included employees, but they'd been delayed as a legal battle played out. That culminated in a US Supreme Court decision July 8 that, the US Department of Health and Human Services said in the email, means the agency "is now permitted to move forward with a portion of its [reduction in force].”

"You are hereby notified that you are officially separated from HHS at the close of business on July 14, 2025,” read Monday's notice to dismissed HHS employees, according to copies obtained by CNN. "Thank you for your service to the American people.”

"HHS previously announced our plans to transform this department to Make America Healthy Again and we intend to do just that,” HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon said in an email to CNN after the Supreme Court's ruling last week.

In a reorganization announced March 27, HHS eliminated 10,000 employees across agencies including the US Food and Drug Administration, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the US National Institutes of Health; some have since gotten their jobs back, but the number losing employment Monday is in the thousands, a spokesperson for the agency confirmed....

Some of those 10,000, though, are protected at least temporarily under a different court case, New York v. Kennedy, and are not being separated immediately, the spokesperson said. That includes employees at six units of the CDC — the National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention; the National Center for Environmental Health; the Division of Reproductive Health; the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health; the Office on Smoking and Health; and the National Center for Birth Defects and Development Disabilities — the Center for Tobacco Products at the FDA; the Office of Head Start; and the Division of Data and Technical Analysis under the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation....

Can you count the lies in this short clip?  Trump believes this stuff. He's delusional.

Now he can't seem to remember who was misguided enough to elevate Powell to head the Federal Reserve.  At this rate of cognitive and physical decline it will be a challenge for Trump to finish the calendar year in the public spotlight.

Trumps administration decided to stop USAID food distribution and, rather than use the already purchased food products to feed hungry children, the Trump administration spent tax dollars to incinerate the food instead.  Cruelty is the point.

Apparently, in "recent weeks", the president had some health concerns and had a workup to address his concerns. Trump was diagnosed with CVI. His spokesperson says that the bruising on his hand is from aspirin and hand shaking.

I wonder if we will ever get to see the results of the CT of his head from last year.  Or, if he ever had a follow-up hearing evaluation after that ear trauma.

trump is in his late 70's. Under the Constitution, the next in line to lead the nation is JD Vance. Imagine Vance teamed up with Miller and Thiel.

Yep. It's adding up to be a real interesting time in conservative utopia.

The Daily Show took this apart.

Does he really think that no one will fact check him, or - worryingly - does he actually believe this stuff?

Does this explain the footage of people moving away from him as if he smells? People are wondering if he is forgetting to change his nappy. Sorry, "diaper".

It doesn't matter if people fact check Trump.  He is above the law and, according to his faithful followers, he is above reproach. Congress just gave him their constitutional authority over use of tax dollars to flesh out that authoritarian control of the democratic processes.

Trump can basically do what he wants because the strength of our democratic republic and its institutions was only bluster, just like the motto "home of the brave, land of the free". We have an abundance of evidence of cowardice in the era of Trump, little evidence of bravery.  An example might be CBS paying Trump for editing an interview and then canceling an award winning nightly program, because they offend Trump.  The frail old crazy guy has proven that this country is weak as hell.

If you're talking about Colbert, despite it being highly rated and popular with fans, it was not profitable apparently.  These decisions are almost always about money.

However, CBS is merging with Paramount and CBS was being sued by Trump and Paramount entered into a settlement earlier this month for 16 million dollars..  The man the runs Paramount apparently is a long time friend of Trump.

Of course when Trump put on Truth social how happy he was that Colbert got fired, conspiracy theories abounded.  So I won't disagree with you.  It might not be a fear of Trump but just that Trump has a lot of allies in big business that have no fear of him but support his agenda because he cuts their taxes and regulations for starters.  It's not a fear based behavior but one coming from a different place.

Trump is hoping Kimmel gets fired next and we all know Kimmel and Trump loath each other.

Also would you kindly back up your statement that CBS paid Trump for editing an interview?

Maybe you missed it. Or maybe my description was confusing.

US media company Paramount Global has agreed to pay $16 million (£13.5m) to settle a legal dispute with US President Donald Trump regarding an interview it broadcast on CBS with former Vice-President Kamala Harris.

I didn't miss the story and in fact mentioned the settlement in my response.  So yes, your description confused me.

Settlements of these kinds of things is relatively normal, most companies don't want the publicity and want to move on, plus it's often cheaper to settle.

Fox News paid a settlement in the Dominion case and in some case around Tucker Carlson.  CNN this year reached a defamation settlement.  NBC settled with the woman they called a "uterus collector".  Happens all the time.

Again, with Paramount being fronted by a friend of Trump, and even if it wasn't,  it's not surprising a settlement was reached.  I don't find it controversial.

In the before times, paying off a politician to get approval of a business deal was called a bribe. Now it's a settlement.
