Now it appears that Trump deal making isn't as strong a skill set as advertised. It's OK. He's sent a letter now.
QuoteIf a deal can't be reached, the EU has vowed to introduce countermeasures targeting billions of dollars' worth of US exports to the bloc.
Those retaliatory steps have been due to come into force on July 14. It is not yet clear if the EU will push back that date to account for Trump's extension of his "reciprocal" tariffs deadline to August 1.
"If no agreement is reached by the stated deadline, the EU is prepared to activate targeted and proportionate countermeasures in defense of its legitimate interest,” Marie Bjerre, Denmark's minister of European affairs, reminded the European Parliament Wednesday, noting that there are limits to the bloc's patience.
Trump should try not hitting them with the carrot while he's threatening them with the stick. One is supposed to be enticement.
It's kind of funny to listen to Bessent talk about this. It sounds like it's all about reasoned augment until Trump decides on a whim to do something different about tariffs. It's hard to be consistent or thoughtful when our economic policy is designed around grandpa's gut feelings.

I commented the other day that Trump doesn't seem to be making the decisions about many important matters. He seems to have confirmed it by admitting that he didn't decide to stop military support for Ukraine and didn't seem to know about it.
I wonder who Pete told instead of the president? Does Pete do all of his military business on Signal with his brother or will there be an official record of the Secretary's chain of authority in the decision? It's not the first time that the legal warrior has slowed the delivery of aid to Ukraine. He does this stuff and then lies about why he's doing it. Maybe Pete is also good friends with Putin.

Think of it: Hitler inspired by American genocide and anti-indigenous policy, right wingnuts inspired by Mein Kampf and Aryan ubermensch fantasies.
The ultimate circle jerk.
"Circle jerk"?
That example actually doesnt hold a candle to the one a few of you here have going.

He is really becoming an embarrassment to you. Sorry, should say, even more of an embarrassment.
Trump is not an embarrassment to conservative Americans. They are accepting of his loud, ignorant, and vulgar style. Only Americans who value ethics and morality and empathy and competence in political leadership are embarrassed by Trump. It's a sad thing to watch people cheering on the weakening of American institutions and the undermining of constitutional boundaries.
Trump proved that despots don't retire quietly to the seaside. I'm afraid that this is going to get pretty sketchy. Fascists don't really believe in democratic processes.
I appreciate your opinions and input. In spite of what we can see and read for ourselves, team Trump is insistent that he is highly respected across the international spectrum of leadership. It is embarrassing.

He sent a letter to the military leader of Myanmar, a nation that US diplomats do not interact with since a junta overthrew the elected leader. Myanmar thanked Trump for the recognition.
He started his letter to the leader of Bosnia with Dear Mr. President, when her correct title is Her Excellency.
He is so incredibly stupid, and has installed stupid people around him.
