I think Mussolini would be more of an authority on Fascism, don't you? He said "The fascist state is the corporate state." Trump demonstrates this daily from putting the tech bros front and center at his inauguration, making Musk his shadow president, extracting obeisance from large law firms, and sucking up to big coal. What kind of government demonizes an entire ethnicity and then scoops them up and disappears them to gulags? Where on the political spectrum do you put a leader that takes away veterans' benefits but plans a large military parade to honor himself? That doesn't seem so moderate to me.
These you refer to "demonized ethnicity" are illegal immigrants. Not "brown people" that Trump doesn't like.
Who gave Reagan theses "lines" to read?

The irony is lost on most of them.

The good thing is the majority of Americans disagree and voted for change. Strong borders, lower government waste, and protect the freedoms that the modern day democrat party is trying to take from us.

How can it be the majority when more people voted against Trump than voted for him? Fascists always have a funny idea about what is and is not government waste. For instance; money for hungry children is not a waste while money for presidential golfing or military parades are wastes of money.
You seem to have misplaced your fascist playbook. The first steps are always to identify who the enemies of fascism are, to demonize the press and any institution which might hold fascists accountable, and to flood the population with lies.
I don't think those reasons that "the irony is lost on most of them" is why Trump is being called a fascist. Something I don't think I've personally ever said.
But perhaps things such as calling the free press the enemy of the people, purging the government of people that one day might oppose him more, calling January 6th a beautiful day, seeking to overthrow a free and fair election, talking about "the enemy within", talk of deporting American citizens, unconstitutional executive orders, and all kinds of things is what people are talking about.
Still, I don't know a lot and you can throw out a lot of isms that are probably true about Trump but fascism probably isn't one of them but as a seeker, I can understand why people are saying it.
Trump used the word himself when he was being prosecuted. The irony is lost on most of them.

In your opinion. Fortunately, we currently enjoy a modicum of free speech and we don't have to conform to the language preferred but the fascists or their apologists.
Reagan, famously, had dementia. His wife or his staff or GOP operatives gave him his scripts. Who cares? It was a great cover-up.

Fascism most definitely applies to Trump's brand of "leadership". Historians and other experts have made this case. People are just more accustomed to and more comfortable with hearing democrats labeled as socialists or communists.
