Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

My favorite variation of this is when the parent has been in constant contact with the teacher re: major medical event/issue and the teacher doesn't feel the need to inform the nurse!

Or the front desk secretary!!!!

Teacher came in with a tissue to her nose...

Teach: "My nose is bleeding!"

Me: *blinks heavily* "Okay."

Teach: "Why?!"

Me: "Were you picking it?" (I had to) After she says no, "Could be several reasons, likely the weather, and the dryness of the air."

Teach: "Okay, so what do I do?" As she pulls tissue away and very little blood is noted.

Me: "Wipe it and head back to class."

These are EDUCATED people. Why do they not act like it?

Today a 1st grader came in from recess and points to his groin area and says to me "it's burning - I scraped it on playground. Want to see?" I told him No thank you and sent him in bathroom to wash off with cool water. He then comes out and tells me that didn't work so he wants an ice pack. I get an ice pack out and he sits down with it. I then check on a different student who had eye injury and then I hear 1st grader say "Wow this ice is cold!" I turn around and he has the ice pack stuffed down his pants! I tell him to put it on the OUTSIDE so he then puts it in between his pants and underwear. Finally he figures out to put it outside his pants and says "okay, it's not soo cold now." Then he realizes eye injury student is headed home because of blurry vision so he tells me "When I get hurt down there, it makes my eyes blurry" - he then gets up and starts stumbling around. I told him the two areas weren't related and head back to class. He goes "darn it" and leaves, trying to give me the ice pack. I said nope, that one can go right in the trash.

Trust me, lots of men become blind when it comes to "down there"!

5th grader: I ate a lizard's tail.

Me: Why?

5th grader: Because somebody dared my $5.00 I wouldn't eat it. So I did.

Me: OK, enjoy your meal. Bye.

I left a message on mom's cell. I'm sure she'll be proud.

I have so many questions?! Why? Where did he obtain this tail? What type of lizard? Is the lizard okay? What happened to provoke the lizard to drop its tail? so many questions...

I have an administration that thinks they know it all!!! I have heard of at least 2 fights today and they will come get ice packs and give them out to kids with no barrier. Never crosses their mind to have me assess the kids. I used to say something but it is their school and their choice so let them get bit in the butt if a kid has something more serious than they perceive.

C'MON NOW!!!

That's great! Our kids will sometimes have the lizards bite onto their earlobes and wear them as earrings. :sarcastic: Many tailless lizards here too.

That is the strangest fashion accessory I've every heard of.
