should I buy an iPad?

I start NS in the Fall and my husband asked me if I wanted an iPad? Do I need one? I don't really care for them but could always use a leg up when it comes to studying. He swears by his, using apps and stuff to study. I've just never had to do that..and I've been out of school so long, since the iPads became a thing...

I don't see the need for one. I love Apple, don't get me wrong. I've had a Mac before & I have an iPhone. But unless you are going to be taking notes on the computer, then I would suggest getting something that allows you to add extra memory, unless your husband is willing to shell out major cash for the one with the biggest memory. I would get something with a keyboard so if you decide to take notes, you can. I have a tablet but when I go back to school I would much rather have my laptop.

Love my iPad. And now that I can open up windows stuff on it. Even better.

If u want to take notes with it. Get a holder with a key pad.

While you don't need an ipad, I found having one can be a huge benefit. I got one for Christmas, and I've been using it for this entire semester to date. For me, it was worth it. For notes, if you are going to use a stylus to take notes like pen and paper, I strongly recommend GoodNotes; if you are going to type up your notes, then get Notability. Scanner Pro is great for scanning on the spot. Amazon Kindle works well on the ipad. Ithoughts HD is great for making your own mind maps.

I use my MacBook Pro for class and my iPhone for apps, and that works well for me. I have no need for an iPad. I love having a laptop, because I study better away from home, and everything is in one place. I set myself up at Starbucks and I'm good to go. My ATI books are all on there, so I just carry any other books with me.

I love my iPad. It's very convenient to take to class to follow along with lecture and get started on assignments. I have the Notability app which allows me to open PowerPoints and record right in the PowerPoint, or in a new document altogether. I make tabs in the app to stay organized with each class as well. I also have the Nursing Central app (I've subscribed to the software), and several other apps that are helpful in clinical and with studying. It all depends on how you study and what is effective for you.

I agree with another comment though, borrow your husband's iPad and see how it works! :-)

I also bought an IPad Air just a couple months ago! I do love it, I have Goodnotes for handwriting my notes, although I'm still trying to find a good stylus. I have the Jot Pro, which skips more than I would like, I also bought the AmPen and it's ok, I just like the feel of a fine tip pen. The notes do not look all that great, it definitely takes some getting used to. I also have Notability, but have not has the chance to use the recording features. You can download your power points into both of those and annotate them. Goodnotes has a lot more flexibility as far as rearranging your notes. You can move things around who his nice. I also have noteshelf, which is like Goodnotes but less options. I love the writing in Noteshelf better than the other 2. Also have Evernote, Dropbox, Genius Scan. It's nice to be able to have everything with you wherever you go. It's not the same to me as looking on my phone since it's so much smaller. I bought a bluetooth keyboard also.

Are you apple mad? if its the only apple product then i would have a look at other tablets. i have the nexus 7 and its awesome. Apple products work really well when there are other apple toys for it to play with. on its own i found i couldnt use as many of the features.

It did help me, am part of the generation that reads from screens and not paper. found it loads easier.
