Really, this happen to me yesterday!!! "Oh crap, we have a test can I borrow a scantron?" WTH? Cmon' people. And like a dummy, I gave her a scantron. They come 5 in a pack and we have 5 tests. So now I am shot one. You better believe I am going to hit her up for the last exam. All the while we are taking the test, she is running up to the teacher to "clarify" questions :uhoh3: .

This is the same girl who asked me before class, "So, what did we cover last week?" I was like, "What?" She goes, "remember, I was not in class last week." I just looked at her with a blank stare. I thought to myself, I don't know who the H#$% you are and why in the would would I care if you were in class last week. I am not a school to make friends! Thank goodness she is not going into nursing. I believe she is trying to be a dental hygenist or something. This is the same chick who asked...."Is this going to be on the test?"

Okay, breath......:smokin:(i am not a somker) 6 more weeks with this girl, I can do this.

I never heard of schools making students buy their own scantrons. I've been to at 4 different community colleges in the past for prereqs, and 2 colleges, and now nursing school, and none have requested us to buy scantrons. I thought they were also part of the costs in our tuition and 'fees'. I guess schools have tight budgets sometimes, but making students buy their own scantrons is just too annoying, since we would have go out of our way and buy them. Even if the school sells them, then why not just include it in the 'fees' in the school bill and have the teacher bring the scantrons, in case students forget them?

Nursing school is stressful enough, and I can see people forgetting to bring those sheets, esp. since most schools throughout the U.S. provide them for students, so we are not used to carrying our own scantrons.

thats funny I have been to 3 different schools in 3 different states my dh has been to 2 additional schools and not one of them ever provided Scan trons I thought that was the norm.

I'd do the same and run and get my own. It's called SELF RESPONSIILITY, something that an increasing number of people don't possess.

ya I agree to me its like a pencil, I don't always use a pencil but I do for tests with Scan trons, on test days I check and double check that I have things I need I have scan trons in all my notebooks LOL and I have pencils all over the place but I usually if not always come to class prepared, I take 2 seconds to think about what I am doing before I even leave the house.

We have to buy our own scantrons/blue books at my CC. We also buy our own syllabus, lecture notes, and handouts for nursing classes. Nothing is included in our tuition except lab fees and an online NCLEX prep service. I never thought it was a big deal. It seems like it teaches you preparation and responsibility. Just like having pencils/notebook paper on hand.

I have been known to borrow a scantron at the last minute, as well as lend them out to others in need. No big deal.

If it is a big deal to you, then I suggest you point her in the direction of the bookstore. She will have to either go and get her own at that moment, or borrow from someone else. Either way, she probably won't ask you again.

We have to buy ours also. Almost all of my classes use them so I buy a bunch before each term.

My A&P instructor warned us that if we don't bring one to class, DO NOT EVEN THINK of asking a class mate. If you can't come prepared, you shouldn't deserve to take the test. I almost stood up and yelled AMEN when he said that.

"Do we need to know how to use a ScranTron for the exam?"

Just waiting for some dumb @ss to ask that one...lol

BUYING Scantrons?? I'd be asking what "specifically" my tuition is covering. :stone.

I agree, I don't think it's a problem to have students bring them to class. You need to be prepared!

But what I don't like is we have to pay for everything. Come on I'm obviously broke because of the completely outrageous tuition costs of school, but then add scantron sheets to everything else? I mean what I also don't get is when I was looking at my tuition bill and it said Student Nurses' Association Membership, Gym Membership, etc etc. Things I didn't sign up for, but they just sort of "figured" we'd want. Sorry this is kind of off topic I'm just broke and frustrated :angryfire

same here. i'll usually go to the bookstore at the beginning of the semester & buy a couple dollars worth since they're only $0.09 each at my school.

At my school we had to buy our own Scantrons. They were only a quarter at the bookstore, but if you came to class without one you had to buy one from the teacher for FIVE BUCKS. I always thought something was weird about that. I mean, why not provide scantrons when you figure out how much we have to pay for tuition???

Never heard of such a thing!!

During our last semester we were required to print off our own syllabus, though

I hear you about the cost of tuition and all the "hidden" fees which they call lab fees:uhoh3:

Next thing we know they'll charge us for the air we breath....and then get this...soap dispensers are always EMPTY and the bathrooms are usually dirty most the locks don't work and the coat hooks are ripped off...the other day it was so terrible the trashcans that are attached to the side were ripped out of the stall wall and you could see the person sitting on the adjacent toilet ;) You've got to be lucky to find a parking space on campus despite having payed for a spot. Most of the time I have to park in what I wouldn't consider a safe area where you get hit up for money by hobos and bagladies! I could go on and on and on......:lol2:

Amen! I have never heard of such! As if tuition isn't enough in itself....

Dang - I see why I spent so much $$$ at my school! They were covering for the scantrons!

I have NEVER heard of a school that you had to pay for those. I think I'd quit lol and go to a school that supplied them free - I mean it's enough to have to remember what you studied.
