:welcome: Gonna try to stick this one!!! Heres to a wonderful semester for all us MBers :):welcome:

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Did he explain what he thought were the keypoints in his answer? Some teachers look for certain words. Use them in any context, and you get points. Sad, but true.

Thanks!

I thought maybe I was losing my marbles for a minute there.

Hi All - I am taking Micro this spring as well. I started on January 17th I think and man...I am feeling a little more then stressed! I have taken A&P 1 & 2 with the same instructor but there is so much more material in such a short time span! Each exam is on 6-7 chapters worth of material. I am having my first exam on Wednesday on the first 7 chapters, I have the Robert Bauman Alternate Edition book. I have learned all words in bold for chapters 1-6 and about 25 for chapter 7. Chapter 7 is Microbial Genetics and let me tell you... I'M CONFUSED!!! Anyone else feeling a tad overwhelmed?

I have already had my first test and I made an 82. I was proud of my 82! We will be having a test on glycolysis and that is a little confusing to me. I do understand bits and pieces, but it's putting it all together that is giving me problems. I have been studying it tonight and I hope tomorrow after a good nights rest I will understand it better. Any suggestions would be great!!!!! I am open to any helps and ideas!!!!!

I have my first test tom. I skipped the gym tonight to come home and review...but here I sit...checking out the new posts!

just got my grade on my first lab paper. "lab safety"

it's gonna be one of those days!

for 6 points, here is the question: "why is it important to know and follow all safety rules in the microbiology laboratory?"

my answer: "it is important to know and follow all the safety rules in a microbiology laboratory to ensure safety of you and others in the lab and to prevent contamination, the spread of bacteria or harmful chemicals."

the answer he wanted: "it is critically important to know and follow all safety rules in the microbiology laboratory, as well as in all other clinical environments, because it only takes a single microorganism to cause disease, and the transmission of many diseases is entirely preventable if we are well informed as well as careful.-if an individual is knowlegable of the safety rules and abides by them, they will be enabled to work safely with microorganisms without contaminating them with pre-existing microorganisms present in the laboratory. -they will also be able to avoid contaminating themselves and the environment in which they work. "

i got 2 out of 6 points possible. didn't i say the same thing with less words?

wow, he wanted you to be ultra specific...i wonder if you recognize everything he wanted as an answer anywhere in the text that you had to prepare to come up with that answer.

I have my first exam Thursday.

I toook A&P already about 2 years ago, but received a "B" :( I wasn't nearly as focused as I am now and I plan on taking it again. If you were to take A&P at my school, I would not recommend taking it during the summer :nono: Very fast paced and I truely believe it tests your time-management skills. There is A LOT of info to learn in that class. My school now offers an "intro to A&P" course for those who believe they will have a hard time in the A&P I. My department head says the pass rate increased for those who completed the introductory course.

Thank you so much for the info! I realized that there was going to be a lot covered but, I wasn't sure if it was something that I wouldn't be able to handle. Anyways, I guess it will have to be something that I'll need to do a lot more thinking on.

Unless you have awesome time management skills and nothing else to do during the summer, I do not recommend taking A&P during a summer session. It's a really intense class to take in such a compact format. It's possible, but it takes A LOT of dedication.

I do have pretty good time management skills, however, I wouldn't want to jeopordize receiving a better grade by me taking it in the summer. :( Too much to consider.......

Thanks for both of your advice...

Good luck on your test....break a leg :roll

You are welcome. ugh...I am going to need to study allll weekend. My first test is the 13th for Micro. Wish us all good luck :chuckle

Thanks. I have studied pretty hard, so I think I should do ok.

Good luck on your test....break a leg :roll

Well I had my first test on monday......chapters 1,2,4,5, & 7. Got a 96% A Anyway, all I studied were the lecture notes that the teacher handed to us in the beginning of the semester. She did tell us that all the questions on the test were going to come from those notes....boy was she telling the truth. This class is going to be a breeze!!!!!!
