Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

I'm 35, turning 36 soon! I have two kids, a 4yr old and 10 months. After a 4 year long wait (finishing up pre reqs, have two kiddies, working, not being selected) I was finally accepted and will start this fall. Let's all keep each other motivated!!! We can DO THIS! :nurse::D:coffee::snurse:

I'm 34, have a 3.5 year old and a 1.5 year old and we're planning to have our third before I start the program either next fall (2015) or spring 2016. I wanted to have a break as I had my second while I was in school and it was way too crazy for me, I ended up being getting PPD.

You are still so young you have plenty of time! IMO It's definitely a good idea to wait, so you can get your schooling out of the way & I'd even say wait until you get an internship or externship out of the way first and/or 1 yr of experience under your belt if you can before you start trying for a baby. 3-4 years flies by so fast.

I'm 42 with 3 kids (22, 10 & 7!) & I probably won't be starting nursing school for another year & a half at least! So I'll be about 46 when I finish nursing school!

I'm turning 36 just before my hopeful entrance this fall. I've got 2 kids, 8 and 13 and just balancing my pre-reqs with their stuff has been so hard! I'm trying very hard not to cut back their stuff since they already had it in place when I started. (as opposed to me when my mom started nursing school, I had no after school stuff to lose) It's super stressful, but I've become adept at finding something I can do whether it's 10 minutes or an hour that I'm waiting. The worst part is that I live outside DC so I lose TONS of time transporting them to and from places (2 mile drives take 20 minutes!). My biggest regret is telling myself at 32 years old that I was too old to go to nursing school. I'd be an RN already if I hadn't been such a fool.

Hello all, 34 and starting back to school in a couple of short weeks. I will be able to put my application in for my schools program next spring and if accepted the first time will be 37 when I finish the program. Some how I will have to find a way to continue to work while doing all of this, since I have no one to help support me over the next few coming years.

I'll be 43 next week and I just finished my prereqs and all coreqs but one. I'm sitting for my HESI entrance exam the day after my birthday and I'll apply in July for the spring of 2015. I highly doubt I'll get in the first time, because despite my GPA, I won't have enough points. That should put me graduating either fall of 2016 or Spring 2017.

I am a mom of five biological children, three youngest still home aged 15-18. I also have 3 step children. All grown. I love this thread! It's nice to know I'm not alone, because at times, it sure feels like I am.

I just turned 30 a few months ago. I have finally broken down and am starting my nursing courses in Fall of this year. I have been a paramedic/EMT for 15 years now and it was time to move to a higher paying, better hours job.

Today I received an email from a school, (one of my top picks) the subject line read "Congratulations!" I open the email to find they are inviting me to participate in the graduation ceremony for my other degree. Son of a...

Well...Wayne State University, they did it again. I just got notified that the deadline is nearing, June 1, 2014, and because that day falls on a Sunday...they just wanted to seen out a reminder!!!!!!!!

My heart dropped...and I thought...they need to stop doing this. If no one know what the deadline is by now...they don't need to be in a nursing school...right!?.

And then I came to my senses, and felt sorry for the people who are just finishing up their pre-reqs...and then I became respectful of the process...and appreciated their reminder.................but just for moment...............just kidding!!!

But I will add they did state this that, we would be notified in June, and an alternate list will be listed, if there were to be any openings.

Please cross your fingers for me!!!!!

I'm a 38 year old LPN with 4 kids (7, 11, 13, 17). I have spent the last 1.5 years completing 10 pre and co-recs for the bridge program. I applied for both the bridge and traditional as the programs here are very competitive. There are people who have waited 1-2 years to get into the local ADN program.

I am now doing the waiting game. It is taking forever!!

Hi, where are you in your journey? Have you completed your prereqs. I too, would like to be a NP, but I want to specialize in Adult care. I applied to an ADN program that starts in the fall, just waiting to find out if I'm accepted. I wish you all the best on your journey :)

Hi, I actually did all my prereqs 5 and 6 years ago but then life got in the way so I'm now having to start again. I'm doing A and P 1 and 2, plus Intro to Psych and Human Growth and Development this fall. I'm hoping to do college writing 1 and 2 over the summer, online. Then I'll do Micro and Stats and Intro to Sociology next spring. I'm planning on doing an ADN then bridging to FNP program, the first 3 years are at a community college and the FNP part is at a different school.

Its tis tough already thinking about how to cope with working (I'll need to work 2-3 days a week) plus school plus family. But I have heaps of support and I know it's all for the benefit of my family in the long run. If I'm happy and fulfilled in my career then that'll mean everything else will fall into place too
