I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!
Hey all! 31 year old here and I just turned my application in last week. I've been in the Navy for the last 12 years working on computers, this is the farthest thing away from that and I'm nervous as hell. Super excited though! Waiting for the next 6 weeks is going to be nerve wracking.
I was an auto mechanic for 9 years and then I was a builder/fabricator of custom golf carts. I'm going from fixing cars to fixing people
Hey all... I am 32 and this is my second time around at it.... I have A&P 1&2 to take and I will be entering into the LPN program May of 2015...I am soooo excited and scared all at the same time. I cant see myself doing anything else other than a nurse. I have made up my mind that I will live like I am in the wilderness(somewhat) no phone or t.v. I am easily distracted and I have to do what I have to do in order to make it this time for me and my 2 loves. I wish you all the best and LET'S DO THIS! NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!
OMG......this thread has made my day. I'm a 38 y/o single parent of a 10 year old (I have a 21 y/o too but she's grown). I have just decided to fullfill my dream of becoming an RN. I think I'm finally at a point where I can dedicate the time to take some classes. I currently have a fulltime job so I think I will start with 1 or 2 online pre-req courses (I'm leaning towards one just to test the waters) I'm starting from scratch w/no previous college hours. I'm set up to take PYSC-2314 Lifespan & Growth Development to start (summer session)
I attended M.A school years ago and have worked in Physician Management (billing credentialing, etc) for over 15 years.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the coolest thread ever! I don't have a specific advice but I can tell you my story. I started my pre reqs when I was 40, my children were 23, 20 and 20, yes twins. I postponed my college education for a long time, I always had an excuse to not pursue it until I turned the big 4 0 . I decided to start but I didn't think I was capable to study nursing so I started with social work. After two semesters of good grades and more self confidence nursing profession was still stuck in my head so i registered for Chemistry, if I passed with good grade i would change my major. Happily I did very well and I changed it to nursing the following semester. To make the story short, I graduated las year with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences and finished all my pre and co reqs for nursing las year. I just got accepted to a Nursing program and I will be starting next September. I'm very excited, happy, and proud of myself but also a little scare. It has not been easy to get to this point and I know the hardest part hasn't even started yet. Everything that is worth in life is hard to get, what would be the accomplishment in something anybody can do? All I can say to you is that it won't be easy, but I can assure you'll be so happy when you meet your goal that you will forget all the obstacles on your path. The most important about this is that you're setting an example of perseverance and hard work for your children and we all know there's no better way to teach your kids than example. I wish you luck, it CAN be done!!
Hi all!
I just took the TEAS and submitted my application today. Now the dreaded wait to find out my fate.
I'm 33 and a stay at home mom/wife to three beautiful children ages 1,2, and 7. I took all my pre-reqs online while pregnant/nursing. It was hard but I did it! I still have no idea how I will juggle them if I get into the program this fall, but I am tired of making excuses and keep telling myself that things will fall into place when the time comes.
I hate myself for waiting this long to go back to school and should have done this a LONG time ago, but what's important is that I'm doing it now and I will hopefully lead a good example to my children.
Best of luck to you all!

Best of luck to you! I'm also in that dreaded waiting period. It took me four years to get all my prereqs done (and I'm still working on the last batch!) so I know how you feel. Hopefully we'll have good news in our future!!
