Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

It's so great hearing how many people will be staring programs soon!

I am 36 as well!!! I have a BS Sociology and doing social work but just became burnt out. I never really had any passion for the work. I have been wanting to do nursing for years and finally decided I am going to do it!! I am doing the lpn program first...I just changed my mind this summer. I agree!! A&P is crazy hard!! I have a headache everytime I leave that class. I am taking all the prereqs though for the ADN program. I am going to work on the RN after I get the LPN. My advisor said there isnt as much competition to get into the RN program if you do the LPN-RN program. That TEAS is something else!!

Good luck!!

Just accepted!!!!. Will turn 36 a week after I start in January! So excited :roflmao:! This is the only time I wish time would fly. Can't wait to start!!

Davina we'll have to have a party for your birthday and surviving the first week of school! Lol

You will do great. I am 45 and just finished all my prereq....waiting to hear if i will be accepted into the nursing program. I feel like i am more focused simce i am older . I was worried too but once i started it all seemed to fall into place. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone I am 45 and it does feel like everything is falling into place about time in my life. I have spent the last 2 years doing pre-reqs and just got accepted to a BSN concurrent program in Arizona. I started and still in the process of finishing 2 BSN classes and take block 1 in August. I'm so excited for everyone I know how hard it was for everyone to get here. I love taking science and math classes, but I didn't like taking English it is not my best subject. I have to say pay real good attention to English because if your going to do the BSN program one day it is a lot of paper writing (APA style). I think because we are older we have an advantage because we are motivated and determined. Good luck everyone

Way to go girl! Same story here, starting ASN in Aug. Congrats!

Congrats to everyone starting soon. I too just got my acceptance letter in the mail last week, after being put on the wait list a month earlier. I'm 36 and starting this fall. Now that I am about to start I am excited, but very nervous. In the back of my head I worry about our age when it comes to hiring because we'll being going up against 25 year old's, but then I remember that we have experience of life on our side. Or maybe I just tell myself this to make me fell better.

Anyways congrats to everyone and good luck.

Opinion please... I'm 36 and have two kids ages 3 and 7. I'm considering going back this fall to take pre-reqs. I work full time in retail and only get Sundays and Mondays off. I need to re-take Chem as it expired. It's offered at a community college near me on Sundays. During the christmas season, I will be working Mondays making Sunday my only day off. Is it selfish if I go to school on that day? Will my family end up resenting me? I'm really torn because I want to do this but feel bad giving up my family time. Thanks.

I am 30 years old and am starting my pre reqs in the fall. It has been my DREAM to be an RN for as long as I can remember. I just recently became a stay at home mom and my husband and I agreed that this is as good a time as any to do this!

Just turned 40, with a previous BA degree in Political Science and 6 years of active duty with the USMC. Wife graduated from ADN program and is now working. Took advantage of tuition waiver program in state and also GI Bill to make a career change the obvious choice. Got accepted into ADN and will be starting in the fall. Plan on a RN to MS program in the future.

I was in a similar situation with three kids under the age of five. It's hard, but you can do it! Just make a little extra effort to hang out with them during the week after you get off. A few months is worth a lifetime and they will understand! Good luck!
