My oldest daughter's children are named Willow Laurell, Winter Rayenne, and Whisper Misty, but I like them all. I don't think they are bad, I just think they are unique.

Want to avoid a hipaa violation but the name of a popular SUPERHERO was truly an official name of a boy born in my presence a few weeks back. No lie! THink like Superman, Batman, Robin. YEP this is true.

A few years back, Nicholas Cage named his son Kal-el after Superman's father. And Penn Gillette of Penn and Teller named his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. What were these people thinking? Or drinking?

I needed a good laugh and thanks to this thread, I wasn't disappointed! Thank you, fellow nurses with such a good sense of ha ha!

I recall coming across a newspaper article on strange baby names years ago ... the examples given were from a hospital somewhere in the U.K. ... here they are:

    1) Parents with last name of "Beer" who named their kid "Bottled."

    2) One little boy was named "Prince Charles" ... another named "River" to parents with surname of Jordan (then again, there was the late River Phoenix ... )

    3) If I were in charge of handing out Darwin awards, one would definitely have gone to the couple who named their kid "Daft." (Then again, perhaps the kid ended up with a genius IQ ...?)

Weirdest name I came across when I was working in women's health: Resurrection (as first name).

As for my own pet peeves, celebrities: A number of them really need a good slap upside the head. I mean, c'mon ... Apple, Poet, Puma, Sunday ... just to name a few? (No offence meant to those who are fans of these children's celebrity mothers, but honestly ... )

I can't believe that people name their children without giving much thought (or any, for that matter) as to how these kids are going to endure the teasing as they grow up and the strange looks when they reach adulthood. Sheesh. Anyway, just my .

Oh, and I forgot about the brainiac actor Rob Morrow who named his daughter ... wait for it ... "Tu." Poor kid to have such an a*****e for a parent. And I can't say much for Mom who agreed to go along with it.

We delivered a baby in the ED where I worked and mom insisted that her name would be Chlymidia. I asked her if she knew the meaning and she said, yes, but she really liked the name.
