  1. I LOVE CRITICAL CARE!!!!!.....I thought med surg was interesting.....critical care is 10 times more enjoyable to listen to a 3 hr lecture!
  2. Your brand newish, don't beat yourself up! It will get better I promise! For some reason some nurses are jealous of new nurses and have to "prove" that they are better.......some not all! But just stick with it! Good Luck!
  3. I took it in Aug. of 2008 and they asked me the sequence in which you took your PPE on and off.....and they also asked me how often you clean your stethoscope, duh between each patient LOL and what rooms were used for what disease! Hope this helps!
  4. OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! They are so good I printed off copies for my nursing school buddies!
  5. I am currently in Florence Darlington Technical College 4th semester and as far as I know there is no waiting list to get in....New groups start in the Fall and the Spring so you just missed the newest call but you could apply and begin in August 2010!
  6. Does anyone know of a good chart I can print off online that list the different types of IV fluids and what they do to blood volume and so fourth? Thanks!
  7. A good pair of shoes.....Danskos by far I still have my first pair! Clicky pens....to your discretion, I happen to love the G2 1.0 it writes beautifully in charts and it writes thick so I can always pick out my papers and charting.....most impo a GREAT stethoscope......some of your grades will be determined on what you hear through it and if you can pick up certain heart sounds, if you take good care of it it will be a great investment for years to come! One more thing a clipbord with storage in it and a calculator....Wal Mart like $10, holds all your clinical paperwork without you having to tote a notebook around, and if you clinical instructor wants a drug calculation done on spot well your calculator is right there......They really love the students that are over prepaired!
  8. I found the Transitional Nursing class well.........really boring, but some of the older nurses coming back for their RN who had been out of school for a while really enjoyed it! I had just grad. from the PN program a year before starting the transitions course so 6 hrs of class to tell me something I had just learned bored me! LOL, but now that I am in 4th semester with critical care and high risk peds/ob I have my hands full! I love learning new things so I am enjoying it a lot. I don't think it is harder I just think that where we re-enter we are re-entering in one of the hardest semesters.....in an RN program! Good LUCK!
  9. I guess it depends on whether your institution uses a waiting list to determine candidates or if they are like my school and use a "weighted" list. Ours was done on a points system, you got more points for living in the schools county, you would get more points for higher grades in your Bio's and prerequisite courses and so fourth.... but if they go by grades I would think you have an awesome chance of getting in! If you don't keep at it, DON"T LET ANYTHING OR ANYONE STAND IN YOUR WAY OF BEING A NURSE! One of my instructors in my practical nursing program told me something that has always stuck with me "Make failure not one of you option in life and you will be a nurse" Good Luck!
